LOCATION

The following position will be filled in accordance with the process set forth in California Labor Code Section 2810.8 and San Diego Municipal Code 311.0101 et. seq.

SUMMARY

The Barista ("Barista")welcomes our guests in a warm and enthusiastic fashion. Smiles and presents a professional appearance, preparing and serving a variety of coffee drinks, along with pastries, snacks, and cookies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Welcomes customers in a pleasant and professional manner, using eye contact and warm smiles, to spark their coffee interests and fulfill their needs.
• Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as espresso, cafe latte, and cappuccino.
• Influences customer flow for good service while fulfilling guests' requests.
• Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, pastries, snacks and cookies for coffee bar.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
• Operates a POS system, records and accounts for items sold, and issues a receipt for each transaction.
• Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Food Handlers Certification
• RBS Certification
• Previous similar position in a coffee bar, restaurant or hotel is preferred.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, for the complete shift.
• Experience in customer service is preferred, such as retail cashier, food industry service, guest service with public contacts, etc.
• Ability to maintain a friendly, team-oriented, positive attitude and a professional appearance at all times.
• Ability to be poised under pressure with continued smiles, and maintain a highly diplomatic attitude with challenging guests and under stressful circumstances.
