Battery Systems Engineer Job at Physical Sciences Inc.
Physical Sciences Inc. is looking for a Battery Systems Engineer to join our Imperia Batteries® team at our facility in Wilmington, MA. Candidates are sought to work with the team to develop and commercialize innovative energy storage systems based on advanced commercial and PSI proprietary materials. Candidates must have an understanding of Li-ion cell chemistry and previous experience with the various processes involved in manufacturing lithium ion cells and energy systems. Responsibilities will include:
- Customer interaction and development of engineering requirements based on customer/application specifications
- Assemble test and validation plans for manufacturing and characterizing battery packs
- Development of test plans to test batteries at the component and system level
- Work closely with the mechanical engineering team to develop battery modules and protection control systems
- Support of prototype and engineering builds
- Lead integration process of the battery into the final system
- Conduct rigorous failure/root cause analysis on cell and battery related problems and own communication on issues to the cross functional teams
- Support cost analysis, supplier audits and market analysis efforts
Candidates should have earned at minimum a MS in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and have at least four years experience in the field.
Candidates with proven leadership experience, including a record of leading programs focused on developing and demonstrating energy storage systems for DOD applications, are highly valued and encouraged to apply. Candidates should demonstrate an extensive background in experimental design, data collection, and analysis with experience in customer interface. Excellent English written and oral communication skills are required.
