POSITION SUMMARY:

We are currently recruiting for a Beach and Climate Program Manager. The Beach and Climate Program Manager is responsible to support the Beaches and Climate Program. The position will be responsible for managing the Beaches/Recreational Waters program and the Climate & Health program. and related duties as assigned. This full time position pays $38.94 per hour and is located in Providence, RI.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Overseeing RIDOH salt- and fresh-water sampling throughout the beach season

· Collecting and analyzing data from samples on a daily basis

· Determining which beaches should be subject to public health advisories and which advisories are no longer needed

· Coordinating messaging with Communications, Web Team, and leadership

· Managing all grants and funds related to salt- and fresh-water beach monitoring

· Submitting required data and reports to all grant funders and RIDOH on a regular basis

· Planning and performing outreach, education, and communication regarding climate resiliency through a wide variety of media including live presentations, print and graphics, social media, and press releases

· Representing RIDOH on various committees regarding the environment and climate resiliency at that national, state, and local levels including the Executive Climate Change Coordinating Council (EC4)

· Seeking and managing climate-specific funds and grants

· Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

· Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.

· Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as assigned.

· Recommend new approaches, polices, and procedures, to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.

· Efficiently performs duties as assigned and works as a team within division and company.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills within the English language.

· Proven, high quality customer service (internal and external customers).

· Ability to work collaboratively.

· A thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of health program administration as it applies to a health program and the ability to apply such knowledge in the planning, organization, coordination, and administration of a health program

· The ability to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of a health program

· To make recommendations to a superior for improvements and/or maintenance

· The ability to coordinate and supervise professional, technical, and supportive personnel engaged in a health program

· The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, associates, subordinates, public groups, and private and public agencies

· The ability to prepare extensive written reports as required

· All related capacities and abilities

· Solid ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt appropriate courses of action.

· Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to prioritize tasks.

· Ability to effectively communicate to large and small group audiences.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

· Such as may have been gained through graduation from a college of recognized standing with specialization in public health, public administration, business administration, hospital administration, or a related field

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift and move up to 25 – 50 pounds at times.

· Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, however evening and weekend hours may be required

· Travel may be required up to 10% of the time
