Behavior Specialist - RTI (Response to Intervention) Job at Spring Independent School District
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Three years’ experience working with youth identified as struggling learners including behavioral concerns
- Three years’ experience working within the school system
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- Degree in Education, Counseling or Social Work
- Experience working with youth in at-risk communities
- Five years’ experience working in PK-12 education, serving youth including struggling learners
- Knowledge of disability law, 504 and RTI
- Leadership experience at a campus and/or district level preferred
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effective train teachers with zero years of experience who provide instruction for students with behavior concerns
- Excellent data analysis skills
- Strong technology skills including technology integration
- Review and analyze student behavior data as it pertains to the RTI process, and how it may identify students with disabilities.
- Develop and train on Behavior Support Plans to address specific, data driven, individual student’s needs; By identifying replacement behaviors, prioritizing target behaviors, designing reinforcement schedules, and guiding directions for implementation of plans.
- Conduct professional development for district personnel on emotional/behavioral markers, classroom modifications/accommodations, and structured intervention strategies.
- Consult with psychologists, psychiatrists, LSSPs, medical doctors, and community agencies concerning intellectual, emotional, and behavioral interventions that can be implemented district wide.
- Consult and engage in teacher coaching with teachers and relevant staff concerning the educational needs of students, interpretation of assessment data, and implementation of behavior intervention plans in managing disruptive students.
- Provide consultation regarding behavioral management/structured intervention strategies for district personnel and/or parents.
- Collect and monitor school and district data associated with behavior and discipline.
- Support and participate in campus requested crisis response team efforts.
- Support compliance with state and federal laws in regards to Section 504, RTI and district wide initiatives as it relates to behavior.
- Participate in transition planning as youth return from disciplinary and alternative placements by attending transition meetings, creating and revising behavior plans & intervention plans, and assisting in welcoming the students back to their home campus.
- Conduct campus climate assessments to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of implemented district initiatives related to behavior.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure tenets of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) are integrated with other relevant district initiatives and deliver district wide training on the framework for PBIS.

This position requires traveling to facilities throughout the district. Mental demands: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; ability to interpret a variety of data; ability to apply appropriate statues, codes and SISD policy; ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory, ability to be effective in both oral and written communication; ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
