Center for Family Life is hiring a part-time Behavioral Health Clinician for our new Immigrant Families Trauma-Informed Counseling Program, a trauma-informed individual, family, and group counseling program for low-income, immigrant families in Sunset Park. Program staff will engage families through trauma-informed practice and an immigration- and culturally-sensitive lens and help them improve their mental health and set and achieve goals.
The Behavioral Health Clinician will provide assessment, counseling, advocacy and referral services to immigrant families in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Desired candidates are committed and passionate about providing holistic and collaborative care in a community-based setting to immigrant families.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conducts intake and assessment for individuals (children and adults), couples and families referred for counseling
- Provide HIPAA compliant counseling sessions with individuals, couples and families that can be both remote or in person as COVID safety planning allows
- Co-create therapeutic goals with clients and support them achieve set goals, revising goals as needed
- Embrace and utilize the Mobility Mentoring framework with families
- Embrace and utilize a trauma-informed clinical approach with individuals and families
- Provides case management, including psycho education, referral and advocacy services for families
- Develops and facilitates group counseling based on client need
- Collaboration with CFL program staff to create an integrated program model and collaboration with outside systems and other community provider
- Meets collaterally with family members, teachers and other service providers to facilitate clients counseling
- Conduct visits in families' homes
- Attend weekly supervision with a clinical supervisor
- Manage a flexible work schedule, including evenings
- Ability to travel throughout identified catchment area to serve families
- Maintaining timely case record/documentation requirements
- Perform any other department or agency related duties or special projects as directed.
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or equivalent degree- Licensed or Limited Permit as LMSW, LMHC, LMFT or LCSW
- Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin
- Strong clinical skills and clinical experience with children and families, especially with trauma-informed approaches
- Knowledge and experience providing play therapy, individual therapy and group therapy with children
- Knowledge of child development, family systems, trauma and domestic violence
- Have a strong sensitivity to cultural differences present among staff and clients within our organization
- Possess a strong belief in people's ability to grow and change; forge a mutually respectful partnership with persons served and their families
- Be a team player.
- Strong oral and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity to Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
This position is a Part-Time position @ 20 hours per week.
