We are Brandon, a boys’ Nonprofit Residential School providing exceptional stabilization, assessment, educational, residential, clinical and case management services. We help boys to know their past does not determine their futures.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide additional support to houses and support rooms where youth are struggling and/or require 1:1
- Become certified as a TCI instructor and CARE instructor if deemed needed
- Complete DCF Hotline and off-hours screenings and intakes of new Brandon clients.
- Assist the Support Manager with scheduling to ensure a staff schedule that always meets the required Brandon ratios and remain on site to provide coverage when the next shift is short staffed or until you can arrange for proper coverage as needed.
- Demonstrate an empathetic understanding of complex trauma and its effects including abuse, loss, and neglect that youth bring to placement. Incorporating that understanding in interactions with youth with therapeutic responses to pain based behavior.
- Support routines of youth through assisting and supervising wake-up, bedtime, personal care routines, completion of chores and laundry, meals, meal preparation, recreational activities, homework supervision and assistance.
- Document planned interventions, behavior incidents, and general observation of youth and assessment of their skills, behavior, and moods in an objective and professional manner.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and role in individual youth treatment plans, including their assessment, particular needs, behavioral goals, and identified intervention strategies.
- Engage in and promote contact with others to include Youth’s families, DCF staff, community resources and programs, school personnel, mentors, visiting resources, friends/peers in the community and their families, and any other significant person in the youth’s life.
- Provide regular supervision to assigned employees.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree preferred; one-year in-house experience as a Child & Youth Care Worker II or two years experience in a supervisory position in a similar setting. Dedication to at-risk youth
- Ability to participate with active youth, including physical interventions and care for program facilities and equipment
- Work well as part of a team and maintain professional boundaries while providing nurturing care to youth in homelike settings. Emotional impact of working with traumatized youth. Ability to write in a professional and objective manner.
- Must have a valid MA driver’s license and DEEC CORI/DSS background check
Job Type: Full-time, Monday-Thursday 2:30pm-11:30pm; Friday 12pm-4pm
Estimated Salary: $21.50-$22.50/hour
Sign-on Bonus Available – Limited Time Offer : $1000 for Full Time
