Behavioral Specialist Job at East Bridgewater Public Schools
BEHAVIORAL SPECIALISTThis position assists school teacher/staff in routine non-teaching duties including pupil behavior monitoring. This position is under the general supervision of the designated Supervisor. The incumbent organizes escort responsibilities and maintains discipline and behavior control over students within the school. Does related work as required.TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Monitors interactions among students and intervenes when a situations requires it (e.g.
when a disagreement between students seems to be escalating into a physical altercation)Provides behavior prevention and intervention when appropriateAssists staff in prevention of inappropriate behavior among studentsRecords and maintains routine records and logs of student incident reports and provides reports as requested by the SupervisorAssists teachers and staff both in and out of the classroom which may include monitoring students during field trips, assemblies and other school functionsModels intervention specific strategies and techniques to be used with children, including the techniques for decreasing inappropriate behaviorsEscorts students and oversees the movement of students passing between classes as well as in locker rooms and other areas within the school facility and groundsFULL PERFORMANCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Skill in in dealing with children and youths with behavioral problemsAbility to carry out oral and written instructionsAbility to command the respect of others with special emphasis on children and youthExcellent moral character and habits; mental alertness.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors Degree or an Associates Degree.2. High School Diploma
