Assistant Benefits Coordinator assists with institutional and community Medicaid, Social Security, SSI and other applications for our clients under direction of Benefits’ Manager and RepPayee Coordinator

Essential Duties in assisting Benefits Manager and RepPayee Coordinator with the following:

  • Gather, verify and prepare required information for institutional and community Medicaid, Social Security, SSI and other applications forms
  • Collect and review bank statements for eligibility verification, including supporting documents for transactions over the allowable threshold
  • Prepare benefits’ applications and forms in the required format.
  • Submit benefits’ applications to appropriate jurisdiction
  • Communicate with appropriate Medicaid offices by telephone and in writing
  • Follow up on additional information requests
  • Respond to denials, including but not limited to appearing at fair hearings.
  • Prepare complete re-certification applications as required

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:

  • Carry out administrative duties such as; filing, typing, copying and scanning
  • Copy Bank Statements and supporting documents for applications and recertifications
  • Maintain ongoing notes for each case to document progress
  • Prepare and organize folders for each case and collect necessary documents for the purpose of filing a Medicaid Application
  • Assist with the filing of all Disability Claims
  • Provide coverage during absence of Benefits Manager and RepPayee Coordinator
  • Additional Administrative Duties as needed and directed by Supervisor

Job Requirements

1-2 years’ prior administrative experience, preferably with the benefits’ application processes

Experience in establishing and/or utilizing a system to track benefits’ applications

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred

Excellent computer skills, knowledge of software including Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

Willingness to be a team player in a fast-paced work environment
