Position Purpose:

This position will be responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs. This position provides excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders and implements benefit plans for the organization. The Sr. Benefits Administrator continually investigates new benefit programs, improves existing programs and supervises and monitors benefits administration.

Primary Duties:

  • Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators
  • Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration
  • Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes
  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees
  • Coordinate daily benefits processing. Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing
  • Oversee maintenance of employee benefit files, maintain group benefits database and update employee payroll records
  • Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of vouchers for payment of administrative fees for all group plans
  • Audit the accuracy and performance of functions performed by benefits staff
  • Provide daily oversight and management for benefits staff to include performance and time management
  • Provide customer service support to internal and external customers. Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company’s benefits package.
  • Design and distribute materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions. Provide training and support to VersAbility employees regarding benefit plans.
  • Performs benefits administration
  • Responsible for integrity of data in HRIS system
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned

Required Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree and three to five years of HR experience, or a master's degree in HR management and two years of experience in the HR field, or seven years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Masters' degree in human resources or related field
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential or HRCI equivalent
  • Ten to fifteen years of human resource experience
  • 5+ years of benefit administration experience strongly preferred

Environmental:

  • Typically this job requires extended periods of sitting. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, etc. These tasks are required less than 20% of the time. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
