We are the fastest growing bike shop on the island of Maui, and offer full service repairs, a daily downhill tour, retail from some of the best bike clothing and gear brands in the industry, and a great environment for customers to enjoy spending time with the sport they love. We are a small team looking for bike mechanics and a service department leader who is just as passionate as us when it comes to growing our service department and providing our community with an excellent experience, every time.

At Maui Sunriders, we’re avid cyclists, surfers, skiers & snowboarders who have a passion for adventuring in the outdoors. Collectively, our team has decades of experience in domestic and international tour guiding, business management, bicycle service & rentals, and outdoor sport of all types. Many of us hold upper level certifications, and we strive to beat industry standards when it comes to safety and service.

We are proud to be one of the longest running downhill bike tour companies on Maui, with over 20+ years of facilitating a bicycle experience unlike any other. We have filled a need on the island for a self-paced 24 mile bike tour that starts at 6,500’ up Haleakala volcano and finishes down at our bike shop in Paia. Upon finishing the ride, our guests frequently remark that their experience with us was the highlight of their time on Maui, and they were impressed with the quality of service we were able to provide.

In the past couple of years, our close-knit and dedicated team has worked hard to expand Maui Sunriders Bike Co to what it is today. In addition to our daily downhill tour, we are also a full retail, rental and service bike shop with locations in Paia & Kihei. Our bike rental fleet includes high end full-suspension mountain bikes, road bikes, ebikes & beach cruisers. We are motivated by a common interest to build a strong cycling community here on Maui!

Service Manager

Do you have managerial experience in the bike service industry? Do you love getting your hands dirty tinkering with bikes? Are you team oriented and love the idea of working closely with others? Are you looking to live on one of the most beautiful islands in the world? If you found yourself nodding your head ‘yes’ to any of those questions, you might be the perfect addition to our rapidly growing team!

We’re looking for hard working, detail oriented individuals that bring a positive attitude and an open mind to join our fast growing team as a Service Manager. In addition to being an excellent mechanic, the ideal candidate will know how to oversee a bicycle service department through effective people and project management.

Skills & Qualifications

• 2+ years in a management position
• Familiarity with the ins and outs of all types of bike parts, including but not limited to: Shimano, SRAM, Campagnolo, RockShox, FOX
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to be on your feet for prolonged periods of time
• Minimum 3-5 years experience in bike building, repair, suspension, wheel building, and service writing
• Self-motivated, positive attitude, team player
• Capacity to interact with a wide range of people
• Effectively prioritize and see tasks through to completion
• Well organized and detail oriented
• Mechanical & technical aptitude
• Unfazed by even the busiest of days

Responsibilities

• Work directly with Owners to manage the day to day operations of the Service department
• Assist in buying decisions and makes recommendations on retail and bike ordering to maintain a successful business
• Support and lead the service team through mentoring, communication and fostering a spirit of teamwork, trust, accountability, and strong customer service
• Assess and repair all types of bikes confidently and efficiently
• Ensure the team is completing repairs in a timely manner
• Ability and willingness to fill in for other roles as needed
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Maintain a safe work environment.
• Provide input on/help establish store policies and procedures as the service department and team grows
• Provide feedback/explanation/service to customers regarding their bicycle repairs
• Maintain notes on customer bikes and work orders in the Lightspeed Retail POS
