The Bilingual Behavioral Health Teletherapy Specialist works remotely from locations in Northern California and is able to provide brief interventions and therapy in an integrated healthcare model including Primary Care, Perinatal, Dental, Psychiatry and other behavioral health and substance use services. Salary:

  • Exempt position
  • The pay range for this position is $72,800- $93,000 annually. Starting pay within this range will vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • May be eligible for annual 2% + 0-2% merit-based pay adjustment (0-4%).

About the role of the Bilingual Behavioral Health Teletherapy Specialist, LCSW (REMOTE)

Responsible for providing brief teletherapy services with fluency in Russian or Dari and English or Spanish and English to Primary Care patients for a variety of patient concerns including depression, anxiety, pain management and chronic medical conditions for which the patient would benefit from therapy, behavior changes, coaching, or additional support. Consults regularly with primary care providers, accepts video and phone based warm hand offs and crisis consultation, and supports the patient to link with vital services. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency providing therapy by way of video/phone platforms approved by agency (DOXY, GoToMeeting, GoToConnect). Contributes proactively to the patient care teams through case consultation, advocacy, mental health education, and collaborative team meetings with medical staff.


Essential Functions

  • Provide teletherapy services including assessment, triage, crisis support, and individual and/or group therapy for patients experiencing a range of mental health symptoms in a collaborative, trauma-informed and culturally responsive manner.
  • Ensure that teletherapy is provided in a manner equivalent to in-person care and in accordance with telework and telehealth best practices in ways that uphold patient privacy, confidentiality, and safety as established by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and CommuniCare Health Centers.
  • Collaborate with primary care, dental, clinic staff, and Yolo County Health and Human Services Mental Health to provide and coordinate care, including referrals for substance use disorders treatment and level of care changes.
  • Ability to accurately and quickly attune with patients, listen to their goals, and establish a plan of treatment to improve functioning, instill hope, and reduce symptoms. Clinician understands and accounts for differences between teletherapy and in-person services (verbal and nonverbal cues) and how these may affect counseling process and discuss with patient a plan to address and mitigate potential misunderstandings.
  • As clinically appropriate, competently deliver teletherapy services to children and adolescent patients and collaborate with teachers, caregivers and other supports with permission and as necessary.
  • Independently manage complex caseload in back-to-back 30-minute windows and complete administrative duties during a fast-paced work day.
  • Proficiently utilize measurement-based care practices to determine client progress, wellness, and risk factors; collect required pre/mid/post health screenings (e.g., PHQ9).
  • Provide psychoeducation to patients regarding mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and service options.
  • Demonstrate competence with the technology required to perform job duties including Language Line, Microsoft Office, eClinicalWorks and video-based telehealth and meeting platforms utilized by the agency.
  • Complete clinical documentation within 48 hours of service in accordance with working hours, all documentation must comply with Medi-Cal, Partnership, Beacon Health, and/or other contractual guidelines. Participate in peer chart reviews and other quality improvement efforts.
  • Offer regular updates to behavioral health clinicians and primary care providers as to the status of referrals, scheduling requests, client prognosis, and attendance as clinically indicated.
  • Learn and understand billing structure; correctly utilize and interpret ICD10 and DSM5 codes and criteria.
  • Respond to calls, emails, and other correspondence from internal and external partners in a timely and professional manner.
  • Monitor patient charts to ensure the timely placement of all correspondence, completes all screening and data collection tools according to protocol and best practices.
  • Assist with other projects as assigned.
  • Maintains current license / registration in good standing, submits all CE and training certifications to HR.
  • Comply with all legal, ethical, and agency expectations that govern the delivery of mental health services and the profession.
  • Provide teletherapy from secure, private location, and abide by all telework agreements, internet speed, and security protocols.

Education & Experience: LCSW, proof of licensure with CA Board of Behavioral Sciences required. Professional clinical experience providing therapy, with fluency in Russian or Dari and English required. Experience and/or training providing services to children and adolescents strongly preferred. Understands how to effectively utilize technology/teletherapy and documented professional experience providing teletherapy.


Special Skills/Equipment:
Bilingual required. Computer skills to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), DOXY, GoToMeeting/GoToConnect, Microsoft Teams and others. Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 codes. Must provide current driver license and auto insurance, ability and willingness to travel to Yolo County, CA for trainings if needed.
