We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a genuine interest in energy, technology, and a passion to deliver products for a growing company. The Billing Manager is responsible for managing all processes and activities related to the successful billing of residential and small commercial accounts in the ERCOT market. In this role, the Billing Manager will also oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures that ensure timely and accurate billing of customers.
Reporting into the VP of B2C Operations, the role requires self-motivated, dedicated, and responsible individual with the ability to perform well under pressure.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the daily execution of billing process for residential and small commercial customers.
- Review work of analysts to ensure accuracy in billing, resolving all inconsistencies as needed.
- Prepare Billing Reports and distribute to various parties including upper management.
- Manage the handling of billing dispute inquires from customer service or other departments as requested.
- Support periodic audits and data review projects.
- Maintain billing system with appropriate updates such as pricing, products and contracts.
- Ensures all prebilling activities and checks are completed within system.
- Continuously evaluate and identify opportunities to drive process improvements that increase the efficiency of the department.
- Work with IT team in the prioritization of projects and features.
- Guide and manage personnel within the Billing team.
- Provide regular feedback, coaching and mentoring to team.
- Provides support to other areas of the B2C Operations department.
- Ensures processes and policies are compliant with regulations from the PUCT and other governing bodies.
- Build upon existing KPIs, metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the department’s efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated.
- Improves customer service and satisfaction through policy and procedural updates within the Billing Team.
- Stay up to date on utility, PUC and industry updates and changes.
- Supports leadership and management in various areas and projects, and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

- Requires a minimum of two (2) years of management experience with a proven track record of organizational success.
- Requires experience and a deep understanding of the Texas electric market, particularly focused on transaction management and billing operations.
- Excellent analytical, organization and time management skills, with the ability to maintain a strict level of attention to detail
- Ability to work well within a team environment and demonstrate a vested interest in team goals and objectives
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships
- Self-motivated with the desire to consistently improve performance and gain further knowledge
- Ability to meet deadlines, learn quickly and demonstrate effective problem solving and follow-up skills
- Comply with company policies and procedure
LOCATION & WORK SCHEDULE
- Required to be in-person in The Woodlands/Houston, TX through a hybrid workplace environment
