POSITION SUMMARY
The billing specialist will be responsible for assorted patient account and charge functions. They will directly and indirectly work with patients. Duties include functions associated with registrations, authorizations, charge entry, quality assurance, and denial management. They will also assist the practice manager as needed. This position is 20-25 hours a week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 Create new patient account information into billing software for purpose of payment for services.
 Copy patient records for insurance companies and other legal entities.
 Maintaining and follow-up of existing patient accounts for accuracy and completion.
 Back-up for collecting and posting account payments.
 Assist with appeals and denial management as required.
 Occasionally answer phones for the Radiation Oncology Department as needed.
 Process mail, run 1st deposit tape and scan EOBs to Patient Accounts Specialist.
 Filing of documents as needed.
 Assist with final chart audits to verify accuracy of charges billed.
 Chart monitoring to capture services rendered for inputting into billing software-Charge Integrity.
 Verify patient’s insurance coverage.
 Work Queue Management.
 Assist practice manager with assorted duties as required.
 Knowledge of ICD-10 & CPT coding for use in correct coding practices.

QUALIFICATIONS
 High school diploma or GED
 At least 1 year of billing experience desired
 Radiation Oncology billing experience preferred
 Must type 50 wpm
 Must have computer experience (word processing)
