Position Summary:

Fulgent Genetics is seeking a skilled and motivated Bioinformatics Software Developer to design, implement and support bioinformatics data pipelines. The developer will support database management, analysis tools, and user interfaces for large-scale bioinformatics software and data solutions. We are particularly interested in developers with a background in Java, Python, Bioinformatics, data engineering and database design.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain bioinformatics pipeline systems.
• Data management, data analysis and database administration.
• Identify, design, and implement process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalabilities.
• Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
• Supporting business operations, processing, and exceptions.
• Database design, analysis, implementation, and support.
• System administration and maintenance.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline. Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related discipline preferred
• Knowledge of Java, JavaScript, Python, Bash Scripts
• Knowledge of Database, SQL, ETL
• Knowledge of GIT Source Control, Windows, and Linux
• Ability to handle periodic on-call duty as well as out-of-band requests
• Understanding of Requirements Analysis
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desired Skills:

• Deep understanding of computer networks, security, and algorithms
• Understanding of bioinformatics, next-generation sequencing, and genetics; health informatics experience is a plus
• Experience with software design, implementation, and deployment of enterprise application software
• Enjoy working in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment on high-impact, open source software development
• Experience with Scala, AWS, NoSql, Statistics, big data, and Apache Spark
• Experience with Java RESTful services, JavaScript, and XML; user and design documentation to support open-source products
• Experience with Agile/Scrum software development methodologies

Compensation and Benefits:
The Bioinformatics Software Developer role is a full-time hybrid position based in El Monte, CA.
