The Boston Herald is seeking an ambitious beat reporter to cover the Boston Red Sox. Duties include year-round daily coverage as part of a two-person team covering the Sox with news, game coverage, features and columns in an ultra-competitive market. The Sox reporter will also contribute non-baseball sports reporting as needed in the offseason.

What you will do:

Produce high-quality daily coverage including but not limited to game stories, analysis, breaking news, features, enterprise stories, columns and other creative ways to connect with a hungry audience

Cover most home games at Fenway Park with occasional road game coverage, particularly in spring training and the postseason

Work a clubhouse of professional athletes, coaches, front office executives and others in the industry to build relationships

Develop sources to break news and advance news stories with original angles

Meet daily print deadlines with a web-focus for breaking news posted to the Clubhouse Insider blog

Generate enterprise ideas as well as take assignments from editors

Commit to the work it takes to deliver clean copy and accurate information at all times

Communicate constructively and effectively with colleagues
What you will bring:

2+ years experience of sports coverage

Training in journalism theory and practice

A willingness to experiment with storytelling tools and social media approaches.

A proven ability to work well with a variety of sources and colleagues
