Brand Manager

This position reports to the CVB’s Director of Community & Brand Engagement (CBE) and is a specialized sales and marketing position responsible for planning and implementing sales activations/events to market and promote Pinellas County as part of the strategic plans of the CBE Department, in particular, and CVB, as a whole. This management position will conduct sales activations and promotions within and outside Pinellas County in association with all CVB activities, including, but not limited to special events, sports events, leisure travel, and the meetings and conventions segment of the travel industry. This position will assist in the cultivation, development and implementation of annual CBE marketing plan and budget designed to promote tourism to Pinellas County. This position will work with and support all CVB departments to help represent and grow the brand of the CVB on a local, regional, national and international basis. This position requires travel, as well as work during evenings and weekends, as necessary to accomplish established goals.

Essential Job Functions
- Assist with the cultivation and implementation of the CVB strategic plan, primarily by executing activations and promotions that support the CVB’s strategic sales objectives both in and out of the local market.
- As assigned by the CBE Director, coordinate and execute brand activations associated with:
- For assigned events, plan, execute and oversee all facets of the activation, including but not limited to:
- As assigned, coordinate scheduling, logistics and marketing elements (wrap, signage, etc.) associated with CBE promotional assets, including but not limited to: Promotions Van, Display Boat, Entranceway Trussing, Giant Adirondack Chair and any other assets that may become available.
- As assigned, develop, implement and maintain an inventory control & tracking system of all CBE assets (e.g. banners, signage, equipment and other property).
- As assigned, interface with key internal and external stakeholders:
- Assist and support the CBE Director or his/her designee with the Brand Ambassador Program, which includes recruitment, training, onsite management and retention efforts.
- Assist and support the CBE Director or his/her designee with development and implementation of the CBE annual budget.
- Required to be onsite for both load-in and load-out of all assigned events.
- Perform related work as assigned or required.
Position Specific Requirements
- Four (4) years of technical and specialized tourism and hospitality industry experience implementing sales and marketing plans and programs within the tourism and travel industry; or
- An Associate’s degree in marketing, hospitality, journalism, public relations, advertising, business administration, or related field and two (2) years of experience as described above; or
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field as indicated above; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
- Valid Florida driver's license
- Other knowledge, skills, abilities, and credentials required for a specific position.
Highly Desirable
- 4 years of experiential marketing experience especially with regard to event planning and logistics.
- Experience with using Simpleview CRM and data base management programs.
- Basic-to-intermediate level knowledge or experience handling electrical equipment and connections to shore power or generator power. Examples include, but are not limited to connecting equipment such as lights, speakers, and TVs into available power source. Knowledge of amperage/load capacities, safety guidelines, experience with installation/removal of basic electrical connections are a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of principles of tourism industry, especially, Pinellas County tourism.
- Knowledge and skill in CRM and data base management systems.
- Ability to assist with development of long- and short-term strategic plans for brand activations and promotions involving large special events and sporting events and budgets to support plan execution.
- Ability and skill in planning and executing brand activations and promotions plans.
- Ability to apply computer applications and software, including all Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Ability to organize and communicate effectively.
- Ability to travel and work evenings, weekends and holidays, as required.
- Ability to be self-motivated and goal oriented.
- Ability to organize and manage volunteers and a volunteer database.
Physical/Mental Demands

- Hearing ability: Sufficient to hold a conversation with other individuals both in person and over a telephone; and to hear recording on transcription device.
- Speaking ability: Sufficient to communicate effectively with other individuals in person and over a telephone.
- Mental acuity: Ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes.
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Repetitive motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
- Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
