Our office in Lincoln, RI is seeking a Business Analyst-Data to critically evaluate information and reconcile data gathered from multiple sources. Gather and document requirements that meet the business needs for acquiring and integrating data sources. Translate requirements into technical specifications to be used by data engineers to migrate and transform data from internal and external data sources. Collaborate with Data Solution Architects and Data Engineers to develop specifications needed to build reliable data pipelines for downstream consumption. Communicate and build strong relationships with internal business units, IT, and external vendors to resolve system, data related and/or workflow issues.

This position is eligible for fulltime remote work.

Starting salary $70,095 - $108,338 depending on experience and qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Evangelizing effective data management practices and promoting better understanding of data and analytics
  • Defining, developing, and executing strategies to implement and enhance an enterprise data ecosystem that supports organizational goals
  • Identifying data-driven business opportunities and recommending analytic projects to leaders
  • Interfacing with and gathering requirements from key business stakeholders, IT experts, external vendors and subject-matter experts to plan and deliver superior data and analytics solutions that drive business value
  • Collaborating with colleagues and data consumers on analytical solutions and models to optimize them for data quality, security, governance and production deployment
  • Demonstrating strong business acumen
  • Prioritizing, scoping and managing data engineering projects and measuring their success
  • Performing analysis of API documentation to provide specifications to Data Engineers and Solution Architects
  • Working across multiple functional projects to understand data usage and implications for data migration
  • Assisting in designing, planning and managing the data migration process
  • Working with subject matter experts and project teams to identify, define, collate, document and communicate the data migration requirements
  • Managing risks and monitor potential impacts as part of the data migration plan
  • Conducting source system data analysis to manage source to target data mapping
  • Performing migration and testing of static data and transaction data from source system to target data store
  • Providing technical mentoring and training to colleagues in industry best practices, data integrity and data innovations
  • Committing to continuous professional improvement and displaying a desire to learn the new and different methods (through conferences, publications, courses, local academia and meetups)
  • Preparing presentations for senior management project status report
  • Creating data flow diagrams and process flow diagrams to enable present to non-technical and technical staff
  • Making recommendations for products and services to support enterprise data goals
  • Liaising between the business (internal and external) users, technical team (PM, Solution Architect, Data Engineer), and operational areas
  • Ensuring that applicable enterprise-wide data standards, policies and processes are implemented, executed and observed
  • May be called upon to handle other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years’ experience as a business or data analyst in a data migration/data warehouse role or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 3 years’ experience in the property casualty business domain, must possess knowledge of claims and policy administration systems (Guidewire a plus).
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence Platforms (MicroStrategy a plus)
  • Knowledge of AWS specifically Glue, Athena, Redshift, Lambda
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to analyze situations and make sound decisions
  • Must have experience in Jira, Visio, Excel, MS Office, Business Process/Rules repositories, SQL
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization. Able to listen attentively and ask relevant questions with the intention of being able to accurately understand and restate the opinions of others.
