Business Service Lenders are responsible for assisting the Credit Union's Business Services team by performing duties associated with Commercial Lending and Portfolio Management. This will include but not be limited to completing activities of analyzing new opportunities, close loans in accordance with the established lending practices, approvals, procedures, and policies of the Credit Union. Assist in servicing the existing loan portfolio and members. Ensure guidelines and policies are met. Monitor covenants that have been established for each member's portfolio. Correspond with members to maintain a quality loan portfolio through proper underwriting and diligent collection efforts to minimize delinquency and charge-offs.

Essential Functions

  • Assist the Business Services bankers to prepare for member and prospect meetings by obtaining updated information on the existing/new relationship(s).
  • Participate with the Bankers in meetings with members or a prospect, whether at the flank or member's business.
  • Manage an existing loan portfolio of your own members, this includes collecting financial statements from the member, analyze them, meet with the member, and work on any requests or renewals.
  • Assist the Commercial Lender to make sure all relevant information is in file, this would include requesting information from members, CPA's, Attorneys, or any other third party- needed for the loan file,
  • Help maintain the pipeline report to ensure proper workflow, maturing notes, and closings,
  • Attend internal sales meetings to understand and ensure Credit Union goals and objectives.
  • Work jointly with the Commercial lender and Credit Department to ensure timely credit decisions,
  • Assist in ensuring proper member documentation and requirements are meet per the approval(s).
  • Assist in SBA applications and closings, whether collecting information or signing with the member.
  • This position is also responsible for seeking new accounts through calling efforts, marketing, and referrals.

Additional Functions

  • Assist with additional projects and other duties as assigned by departmental leadership.

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a related field of study, strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of related experience as a credit analyst or in commercial lending; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a variety of people, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and organize work effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet time deadlines.
  • Ability to make logical decisions and carry out decisions made.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret balance sheets and profit and loss accounts.
  • Sound credit/risk experience.
  • Thorough understanding of loan policy and regulatory requirements, lending procedures and related documentation.
  • Enjoys working with customers and demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of computers and business software {Excel, Word) and the ability to learn proprietary software.
  • Close attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to safely operate a vehicle and travel to customer sites.
  • Ability to be an attentive and active listener.
  • Is able to work effectively and efficiently, both individually and as part of a team.
  • Contributes to the fulfillment of Credit Union goals and objectives.
  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and under pressure, as needed.
  • Must have regular attendance at the job site.
  • Must be knowledgeable of banking regulations and follow bank policies and procedures to assure proper documentation and compliance with banking regulations.
