Purpose/Objective :
Analyzes and summarizes Business Banking applicant financial statements to facilitate lending decisions for average size loan requests. Prepares credit underwriting documents for approval.


Key Accountabilities :
  • Analyzes and spreads financial statements and/or tax returns to assess the financial condition of existing and new borrowers and their financial viability. Analyzes and assesses trends, ratios and cash flow. Assess the adequacy of collateral.
  • Prepares concise written reports identifying industry concerns, market share trends, financial trends and other pertinent underwriting issues to present to the approving Credit Officer.
  • Obtains and reviews financial data from the credit file or outside sources, determines additional information and investigation needs and contacts appropriate sources to ensure a complete financial overview for analysis.
  • Confirms accuracy of all submitted data, and ensures adherence of submitted applications with all established Bank, regulatory, and compliance guidelines. Ensures loan decisions are processed within established timeframes and in accordance with Bank policies and procedures.
  • Performs Commitment Letter review to assure that the documentation correctly reflects rates, terms and conditions of approved loans.
  • Maintains effective communication with internal staff, working in coordination with the Relationship Managers, Loan Closers and Documentation Prep Team to facilitate the progress of approved loans through the closing process.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities and duties as necessary to ensure department objectives are met.
  • Assists in department objectives by determining to extend credit to Business Banking borrowers.
  • Ensures compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies and procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by ones’ duties.

Education:
  • College degree with preference for a major in Business / Accounting / Finance / Economics.

Experience:
  • 1+ year of Business Banking/Commercial loan experience or general banking experience with preference for credit analysis experience.



Skills & Knowledge:
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of both financial and managerial accounting.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel & Power Point)
