The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Developer to support the ongoing development and deployment of data reporting and analysis solutions. The successful candidate will provide the production and support of business data, analyses, and reports using Oracle BI Publisher. Candidate will conduct data analysis of complex agency business data to document user requirements and design functional data structures, data extraction transform and load processes, dashboards, and reports. Reports will be designed to support data usage, decision making, and business processes. Candidate will research off-the-shelf reporting and data analysis applications and make recommendations for architectural changes. Successful candidate will design, develop, implement, and maintain data marts, data interaction solutions, and report solutions to satisfy the business needs. Candidate will also train users in the usage of the data interaction and reporting tools. Once onboarded, this position may be eligible for telework opportunities; availability, hours, and duration of telework shall be approved as outlined in the Commonwealth’s telework policy.

Minimum Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Proficiency in utilizing Oracle BI Publisher to create reports is essential, as well as a comprehensive understanding of relational databases, data analysis, data security, and project management methods. Familiarity with working in an agile development setting, specifically with Scrum methodology, is also required. Advanced skills using modern data warehousing techniques to develop and populate data marts, reporting structures, and application interfaces using Oracle PL/SQL and other data integration tools such as Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), or similar tools. Ability to analyze, design, implement, and maintain IT database structures. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; and to organize, monitor and prioritize work and projects. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and individually, provide exceptional customer service. H.S. Diploma/GED required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Graduate of college or university with major studies in computer science, information technology, or other related degree is preferred along with considerable IT experience comprising of progressively responsible positions. Experience in report development using Oracle BI Publisher. Substantial experience in developing data-driven reports to meet a variety of business needs. Experience developing data marts, data warehouses, or reporting databases. An equivalent combination of training and experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge, skills and abilities may substitute for this education and experience. Hiring Salary Range: $75,000 - $99,750 annually. $5,000 Sign-On Bonus for those new to state service is being offered to the selected candidate. A one-year tenure agreement will be required for sign-on bonus. Excellent State Benefits.
