Moffatt & Nichol is actively seeking a junior level CAD Technician to join our Seattle or Federal Way, WA office. This individual will Design and draft detailed drawings using AutoCAD for use in planning, permitting and construction of civil engineering projects that shape our coastlines, harbors & rivers as well as transportation projects associate with movement of freight. Six key area of practice are: Ports & Harbors; coastal, environmental & water resources; urban waterfronts & marinas; transportation, bridges & rail; inspection & rehabilitation; & energy.

Duties and responsibilities:

- Transform initial rough designs/sketches and redlines/mark-ups into finished graphics/construction documents.
- Assist the CAD Manager with designs for site development & transportation projects.
- Ability & willingness to travel as required.
- Draft detail drawings of cargo/port/bulk terminals, breakwaters, marinas, wharfs, bulkhead walls, piers, bridges, sound walls, ferry terminals, hydraulic structures, structures (steel, concrete, timber & masonry) and shoreline construction (beaches, revetments, dikes and jetties).
- Improve communications through documentation.
- Review engineering drawings to ensure adherence to established CAD standards.
- Conduct 2D & 3D CAD modeling.

Qualifications:
- BS or Associate degree in Engineering Technology or comparable/related (ie. CADD; Drafting & Design Technology; General Engineering; or Design and Construction Technology)
- Must have working knowledge of civil site development.
- 3+ years proven work experience with AutoCAD and AEC design
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Attention to detail a must.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office Suite (Excel intermediate knowledge required).
- Ability to introduce new ideas and CAD routines to enhance and improve some of the day to day operations.
- Understanding and application of CAD standards.
- Good numeracy and computer skills.
- A knowledge of structural steel materials (ie.W, S & M shapes; channels; angels; etc).
- Good problem-solving skills, analytical thinking.
- Creative flair.
- The ability to meet deadlines while performing under pressure.
- Successful experience working in a dynamic environment with multiple project responsibilities.
- Ability to understand & complete projects with minimal supervision.
- Software Experience:
- AutoCAD (required)
- Civil 3D (desired but not required)
- ArcGIS (a strong plus)
- Navisworks (a strong plus)
Base Hourly Range:
- $29/hr. to $36/hr. based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.
- Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in Washington
Working conditions:
This position works primarily in an office setting; some client and field visits and occasional out-of-state travel to other M&N offices.
Physical requirements:
Work is generally performed in an office setting, and ability to use standard office equipment and furnishings is required. On rare occasions travel may be required to another office.
