Essential Functions:

• Prepare or serve hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees or teas, as well as baked goods.
• Acknowledges and greets customers with enthusiasm while offering excellent customer service. Suggestively sell items and be knowledgeable of current specials and promotions. Have concise menu and product knowledge. Take initiative and demonstrate leadership skills.
• Check temperatures of food, freezers, refrigerators, and heating equipment to ensure proper functioning. Follow all food, physical safety and sanitation guidelines set for by UHD. Properly label and store all perishable food. Practice proper glove and hand washing procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Encourage and promote diversity in a team environment. Assist supervisors with training of new staff. Maintain productivity by utilizing time management skills.
• Process transactions on Micros, a point of sale system; correctly handle monetary funds, reconcile daily reports, and complete opening and closing documents.
• Assist with inventory, ordering, receiving, and stocking of supplies/ retail products. Complete daily service records.

Required qualifications:

• Experience providing production and support with food preparation as a Cafe Attendant or similar in a high volume establishment. Experience preparing, serving and assisting in the preparation of food and beverages

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school or GED.
• Six months or more Cafe Attendant experience in a fast paced food court or restaurant operation. Six months or more experience taking inventory, operating a point of sale system (POS) and training staff.
• Able to multi-task and delegate tasks to associates.
• Demonstrates ability to receive, respond and follow through with written and oral instructions from supervisors and coworkers.
• Exhibits professional demeanor.
• Provides quality product while adhering to recipes and standards.
• Delivers exceptional customer service by actively greeting guest and anticipating customer needs.
• Able to work in a diverse environment while promoting teamwork.
• Able to prioritize and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Follows all health, safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Must have and maintain a current ServSafe Certificate or a current Travis County Food Handlers Card.
