As a
Career Services Specialist , no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:
  • Performing essential skills assessments on clients to help determine clients’ interests and talents
  • Recommending additional education to clients to help them achieve their career goals
  • Assisting clients with job search skills, contacting prospective employers, and completing job applications
  • Counseling clients on how to strengthen their weaknesses and conquer habits that prevent job advancement
  • Communicating with employers in the community in effort to promote the services of the Opportunity Center
  • Researching and identify local employment trends
  • Staying current with all recruiting and job search practices, resume design, and site and web-based training classes
  • Planning, organizing and leading career related activities and events such as career fairs, educational resource classes
  • Working with the Director of Career Services on the recruitment, training, and scheduling of all volunteers and interns
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
  • All other duties based on business needs.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You might be a great match if:
  • If you have an Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, sales or marketing
  • Three-five years of previous work experience in a career services related field, or any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Previous experience developing or assisting with the development of training curriculum is a plus
  • Previous staffing experience preferred
  • If you live close to Waycross, Georgia is a preferred
  • Bilingual is a plus!
  • Flexibility with schedule and ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and independent transportation. This position requires local travel to meet with business partners.

  • Attention to detail while multi-tasking
  • Learn and adapt to evolving technology needs
  • Work both independently and with a team
