Job Title: House Monitor
We have the following shifts available:
Monday-Friday 3 p.m.-7 p.m. (20 hours)
Friday-Monday 7 a.m.-3 p.m. (29 hours)
Tuesday-Saturday 7 a.m.-3 p.m. (40 hours)
Monday-Friday 11 p.m.-7 a.m. (40 hours overnight)
On-Call-work as needed, various shifts
AMI Housing, Inc. is opening our new Adult Residential Facility (ARF), formerly known as a "board and care" in Auburn, CA. The 15 bed facility will provide housing for up to 15 adults living with serious mental illness. We are searching for qualified individuals who can provide care and support to the residents. We are seeking compassionate, reliable, committed, and dedicated candidates to staff the facility. We have both full time and part time positions spanning 7 days a week.
Position Summary:
The House Monitor is responsible for monitoring the activities of residents of the ARF and to ensure compliance with program rules and expectations. He/she is also responsible for ensuring the safety of residents and the security and sanitation of the program. The House Monitor will provide direct program support to residents and work collaboratively with the Service Coordinator and external Case Managers to help ensure the resident is successful in his/her housing.
Essential Duties:
- Assist residents within limits in processing issues and problem-solving
- Assist residents with daily living needs
- Assist residents in daily food preparation and meal planning
- Dispense and monitor medication and maintain medication log in accordance to the medication policy of the program
- Consult with direct supervisor or supervisor on-duty regarding residents’ personal needs, behavior and service planning
- Supervise program activities and other programming for residents
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as directed
- Maintain visitor protocol and follow daily log procedures
- Follow appropriate critical incident protocol and accompanying documentation
- Maintain a comprehensive and accurate written record of events that occur during shifts, as well as thorough incident reports
- Maintain resident sign-in/out log as well as all other logbooks and records
- Conduct periodic inspections of the facility and grounds
- Enforce periodic fire drills and perform other safety duties as directed to ensure safety of residents, including implementing emergency evacuation protocol
- Answer telephone and route calls or messages to appropriate staff
- Perform other duties assigned
Qualifications:
- Lived experience with mental illness a plus but not required
- Willingness to work with individuals experiencing mental health issues and homelessness
- Willingness to complete job related tasks and accept training
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends
- Patience and compassion
- Completion of formal or informal education sufficient to assure the ability to read and write English at the level required for successful job performance
- A positive attitude and works well with different personalities and cultures
- Previous experience with case management services or understanding of case management principles a plus
- Reliable and dependable-able to show up for shifts
- Knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office, email and internet
- The ability to safely operate a motor vehicle to transport oneself, others and program supplies as necessary
- The physical ability to travel to assigned locations, stand, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, lift, grasp, climb, talk, see, hear and perform basic and light home maintenance activities, and operate office equipment
- The physical ability to move and lift light objects up to 30 pounds such as mail, supplies, files, and equipment
- The ability to operate office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements
- The ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time.
Must have own, reliable transportation with clean driving record.
Livescan clearance, drug and alcohol testing, and criminal background checks are required pre-employment.
