Carpenter Instructor Job at Southeastern Carpenters Training
We are looking for a Carpenter who is looking to transition into an instructor role. The instructor will teach 8-10 apprentices at a time over the course of 10 hour days. The instructor will teach a wide variety of classes including; print reading, math, level and layout, concrete forms, scaffold, wood framing, metal framing, stationary power tools, interior finishes, roofing and other classes as curriculum as it is developed.
Responsibilities
- Teach classes as scheduled
- Calling students for class reminders one week prior to class
- Prepare all class materials (chapter reviews, tests, videos, etc)
- Ensure all equipment is working prior to class
- Ensure all students are working safe and no accidents occur while working in the shop
- Maintain cleanliness of shop and tool room
- Keep track of what materials are needed for class
- Keep inventory of all tools and make sure all return after each class
- Some travel may be required to teach at other training centers in GA and NC
- Some travel to our international training center in Las Vegas for training
Skills
- Highly proficient in math, print reading, layout
- Ability to build projects from prints and materials provided while in class
- Patience with apprentices
- Ability to build using metal and wood
- Lead apprentices while in the shop
- Desire to learn new areas of work within carpentry
- Self motivated
- Previous teaching experience a plus
- Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus
Requirements
- 5 years experience as a carpenter (documents to verify)
- OSHA 30 (OSHA 510 and 500 a plus)
- Proficiency using computers and tablets
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour
