We are seeking an energetic, solutions-oriented, relationship enhancer to join the team as a Carrier Sales Manager in downtown Chicago, Illinois! The Carrier Sales Manager will source and secure carriers to move freight in a timely and cost-effective manner, while supporting the Chicago Carrier Sales Team.
Essential Job Duties
- Support, inspire, and develop the Carrier Sales Team, while developing metrics that drive productivity and accountability
- Build strong relationships with internal and external parties through effective teamwork and openness
- Facilitate the implementation of continuous improvement objectives
- Deliver constructive coaching to the Carrier Sales Team
- Leverage technology and data to make informed decisions and improve efficiency
- Develop new and grow existing carrier relationships; cold calling prospective trucking companies
- Promptly secure top service providers to pickup and deliver a high volume of customer goods, while maintaining services as defined by customers
- Schedule pickup and delivery appointment times; use discretion and insight when considering all factors affecting timeframe, including weather, traffic, miles, service rules, etc.
- Proactively follow up with the dispatcher and driver time to time to ensure load is picked up and delivered on time
- Ensure all parties are informed of route changes, delays, freight concerns or other issues as necessary
- Accessible afterhours when additional support is needed
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of leadership experience
- 3+ years of experience EMPLOYED by a 3PL or brokerage-modeled company
- 2+ years of experience working in Carrier Sales
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and can turn what some may view as chaos, into fun
- Ability to quickly pivot from one task to another and reprioritize throughout the day
- Excellent customer service and negotiation skills
- Eager to learn and open to different methods of execution
- Technically savvy
- Proficient in MS Office, emphasis in Excel and strong typing skills
- Ability to read, speak, write, and understand English in a professional manner
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field
- Bilingual, English/Spanish
