Wage: $14+/hour (including travel time between sites)

Summary/Objective
The Coordinated Approach to Childhood Health (CATCH) Kid’s Club Instructor will be responsible for instructing the Y’s healthy eating and physical activity education program for elementary school youth. This community-based program has been proven to increase healthy habits early in life, especially among youth from marginalized backgrounds. A personal vehicle and afternoon availability (at least twice weekly, 2:30-5:00 p.m.) is required as this program is located across a variety of community based after-school program sites.

Essential Functions
- Serve as the organizational expert for implementing the Instructor Approach to Childhood Health (CATCH) Kid’s Club curriculum.
- Teaching weekly CATCH lessons at various community-based after-school program sites throughout Duluth.
- Responsible for collecting basic reporting data including, but not limited to, pre and post surveys, weekly attendance, demographic information, anecdotal quotes, photos, and videos.
- Communicate with other CATCH Instructors on lesson plans.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Experience working with elementary-aged youth.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Possess a valid state driving license
- Basic knowledge of physical activity and nutrition.
- Passion and excitement for teaching the next generation the importance of healthy living.
- Ability to engage elementary-aged youth and make learning fun!
- Afternoon availability (2:30-5:00 p.m.) at least two days per week during the school year.
- Access to personal vehicle for shopping and moving between program sites.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required within 60 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching and/or coaching experience.
- Degree (or pursuing degree) in health education, exercise science, kinesiology, nutrition, physical education, public health, or other related field.
Physical Demands

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to conduct activities relating to fitness. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position including walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, jumping, and running.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not involve any supervision responsibilities.
Work Environment
This position operates in area schools and community centers and serves elementary aged youth. There are occasional activities that will take place outdoors, but most activities happen indoors.
Travel
Travel is required for this position. There will be travel in-town for meetings, trainings, program related shopping, and between different site locations. A personal vehicle is required.
