Our Driver Apprenticeship Program offers the experience and confidence needed to start a successful driving career. Apprentices can rely on Day & Ross’s 70 years of experience and benefit from the many career advancement opportunities that come from a growing business. If applicants have earned a CDL from an accredited commercial driving school, they may apply to the Driver Apprenticeship Program to receive mentorship and the experience needed.
The starting rate is $22.00 per hour and increases as the apprentice continues in the program. During the program, there will be longer, inter-state routes assigned later in the program, the length of the route will, in most instances, allow the apprentice to be home daily. There may be situations, such as weather events, that would preclude the driver from returning back to home-base. In those instances, Day & Ross would assist the driver in finding a rest stop or hotel and pay for the costs.

- Clean Driving Record
- Class A CDL Required
- Certificate from Accredited CDL School
- Live within 50 miles of Houlton, ME
- 21 yrs of age minimum
- Must have valid passport OR Enhanced License
- Willingness to cross border to/from Canada
- 4 weeks housing provided in Presque Isle at beginning of program ( case by case basis depending on commute)
- 1500 SOB
