CDL Driver for Residental Garbage Company Job at Cumberland Garbage & Trash INC.
We are currently looking for someone to immediately fill the position of CDL driver on a sanitation truck for our company. Must have leadership qualities and able to handle a crew. We have been in business 48 years and take pride in our business and our employees. If you have worked here or applied here before DO NOT REAPPLY. Job description is posted but not limited to these items below, we will discuss in detail upon interview
1. Trucks are to be fueled and serviced daily when you come in. Work hours are from 7:00am – 4:00pm and my vary depending on the day. Any absences for medical or legal reasons WILL require a note from said facility. Two unexcused absences with no note will result in immediate termination. Walking off the job or not showing up for your scheduled day of work without prior notice is to be taken as you are quitting your job and your position will be filled. Two day notice is required for any days off you may need and they will need to be approved by the owner of the company in advance. This job is an all weather job, rain, sleet, snow, ice or heat, you should prepare accordingly.
2. You understand that you are NOT given a specific route and your route and fellow workers may change on a daily basis. All areas, are every employees responsibility as a company and at times you may be required to assist in other areas of the day. Throwers have been instructed that YOU are in charge of them and the truck while on the route, if you have a problem with a thrower then contact the office immediately!
3. DO NOT discuss your pay with other employees
4. Tires are to be checked in the evenings, oil is to be checked EVERY MORNING.
5. Trucks are to leave the lot by 7:15am.
6. If there is a problem with a truck when you get in fill out a work order and turn into the office before you leave.
7. Notebooks are to be taken daily, looked at before you leave and turned in each day any comments and addresses checked off for the day.
8. Do not leave your book in the truck. Make sure your radio is working and charged daily before you leave.
9. You are responsible for your throwers activity. Throwers DO NOT handle the customers or get into shouting matches with them. That is YOUR job as the driver. If you do not have the ability to handle the customer, refer them to the office.
10. Make sure the throwers put the cans back where they get them; all lids are on the cans, no cans left in driveways. Make sure they pick up everything and leave no mess. Make sure that they are putting the recyclables in the right area of the truck.
11. YOU and YOU alone are responsible for putting hydraulic oil in your truck. Truck is not to be overfilled. If you have a spill from the overfilling you will be charged for the fluid at the rate of 8.00 per gallon.
12. You are not under any circumstances to leave a truck while fueling or putting in hydraulic oil. Anyone caught propping the handle will be TERMINATED.
13. Trucks are to be serviced every 2 weeks. Cabs are to be cleaned out daily.
14. Throwers are REQUIRED to help you service your truck.
15. Every 60 days the area behind the blade will be cleaned out, everything you clean out will be redeposited into the hopper, do not discard anywhere else.
16. Tires are to be changed before they become to slick to recap.
17. Make sure your fire extinguisher is fully charged and you have triangles, registration card, fuel sticker, valid inspection sticker and your tag is in place.
18. Check your lights DAILY.
19. Limit store stops to 10 minutes
20. Report ANY DRINKING or DRUG USE on your truck. Your job and your CDL license depend on it.
21. If at any time your brakes do not feel like they are stopping correctly, stop the truck and call the office. Remember the more loaded the truck is the longer it takes to stop them. Be extra careful stopping when your truck is loaded.
22. Current medical card and CDL required. It must be kept on your person when operating any Cumberland Garbage vehicle. A copy will be required to keep in your personal file.
23. If you take any cash/money order payments on the route then a receipt is to be given to the customer and a copy and the payment must be brought into the office and signed off on THAT DAY. You are NOT to keep the money. If the office is closed when you come in please give the money and the receipt to the shop supervisor. If the money is not turned in then that will be considered stealing and legal action will be taken and you will be terminated. NO EXCEPTIONS!
