CDL Truck Driver Class A or B, AV Install

Pierson Computing Connection, Inc. (PCCi), a woman-owned company, continues to grow, and is seeking full-time CDL Class B truck drivers to support audio-visual (AV) installations in the Mid-Atlantic region, but may include trips to New England, the South, and the Midwest regions. This is not your average truck driving job. You will be part of a fun, energetic installation team providing AV technology to schools, hospitals, and other institutions.

Salary/Wages

CDL Class A: $23 - $32/hour commensurate with experience.
CDL Class B: $19.80 - $28.75/hour commensurate with experience.

Job Description

The CDL Class B Driver safely and efficiently delivers, loads, and unloads product and material, assists the AV Installation Technicians with AV installation projects, and performs general warehouse duties.

Essential Functions

• Operates a Class B-licensed truck according to applicable state and federal transportation laws
• Loads and unloads truck in a manner that prevents breakage
• Transports loads safely and in a timely manner irrespective of the time of day or weather conditions, obeys all traffic laws and observes all safety regulations
• Deftly maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas; able to comfortably drive in and maneuver around inner-cities, such as New York City and Baltimore, and through residential neighborhoods
• Assists with or loads and unloads goods and materials, using specialized equipment when warranted; unloads empty skids and returns all equipment to designated area
• Maintains signed invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork; delivers documentation to appropriate staff when delivery is complete
• Ensures that the truck always has sufficient fuel and completing pre- and post-trip safety and maintenance checks
• Facilitates routine service on trucks, which may include checking oil, water, gasoline, and air, reports maintenance malfunctions to the appropriate person
• Arranges trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns
• Maintains all required logs
• Assists AV Installation Technicians with AV installation projects
• Performs general warehouse duties, including loading and unloading product, re-box product and prepare for shipment, unbox and inventory product
• Provides weekly expense report

Competencies

• Able to use GPS to find the most-efficient driving route and able to reroute as necessary
• Basic proficiency with general computer and Microsoft systems and applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Basic proficiency with cell phones and cell phone applications (apps)
• Basic mechanical knowledge to help you solve minor mechanical issues without needing additional assistance
• Familiarity with eastern U.S. major highways, toll roads, and interstates

Required Education and Experience

The following requirements are job-related and consistent with business necessity.

• One year of CDL Class B professional driving experience, with the ability at PCCi’s expense, to obtain a CDL Class A license within 30 days of hire
• No more than two moving violations and/or chargeable accidents within the past year

Preferred Education and Experience

The following requirements are job-related and consistent with business necessity.

• Certified forklift operator
• One year of CDL Class A professional driving experience

Additional Eligibility Requirements

Upon offer of employment at Pierson’s expense, the selected candidate must pass* a

• Pre-employment drug test
• Federal Criminal History
• Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record, and
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Certification background

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is an hourly overtime-eligible position. The work schedule is at least 40 hours per week with variable starting and ending times. Most work weeks will be overnight, Monday through Friday. Some overtime is possible with management approval.

Travel

Travel is primarily throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, but may include trips to New England, the South, and the Midwest regions. Some trips will include overnight stays of three-to-four consecutive nights with an occasional overnight Sunday.

Reports To

This position reports to the Senior Project Manager, AV Services.
