SUMMARY Assembles, analyzes and prepares charts for scanning and indexing. Responsible for upholding the integrity of the Medical Record. Attention to detail a must.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assembles and prepares both inpatient and outpatient charts for scanning indexing.
Completes record indexing in a timely manner, with great attention to detail.
Assists in other areas as needed, with a need to be a team player in Health Information.
Assists with shredding of records, maintaining the policies and procedures of Health Information regarding record retention.
Answers the telephone in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring that the Hospital and department confidentiality guidelines are followed.
Completes all other duties as assigned.
Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.
Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.
Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.
Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.
Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school graduate or equivalent. Medical terminology preferred. Basic computer knowledge. Previous hospital experience a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers, patients, families and employees of the organization.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS
Excellent computer and typing skills required. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
