Overview:
Merrick & Company is seeking a Civil Engineer I with experience in design and construction oversight of transportation infrastructure to join our Infrastructure Group in our Greenwood Village (Denver Metro), CO office.

Typical salary range for this position is $70,000.00 - $80,000.00. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Job Description
  • Perform assignments in the analysis and design of municipal roadways, streets and intersections.
  • Work within a team of Design Engineers and technicians on municipal, state and federal transportation and public works projects.
  • Prepare and review working drawings, details, layouts, cost estimates, studies, reports and work products.
  • Perform design tasks, prepare bid documents including drawings and specifications, and organizing all drawings, reports, calculations, and associated project deliverables, with supervision from project managers and senior staff.
  • Must become knowledgeable of Merrick procedures, understand them and be able to apply them when required.
  • Candidate must be capable of making sound engineering decisions, exercise initiative, judgment and knowledge commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
  • The successful candidate must possess good interpersonal skills to effectively interface with clients and Local, State, and Federal government agencies and be capable to lead project progress meetings, make project presentations, and provide clear written communications.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Field/construction activities may be required.
Required Experience
  • Degree Requirements: Bachelor of Sciences in Civil Engineering from an ABET Accredited Program is required.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering / Engineer- in-Training (EIT) certification strongly preferred.
  • One (1) or more years of relevant civil engineering experience in municipal public works and transportation design, or private land development design.
  • Must be a team player and be able to work on multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Well-organized, detail oriented, and self-motivated professional.
  • Strong desires to grow personally as well as professionally in a team environment.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Proficient using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Bentley Microstation/Inroads V8i is a plus.
  • You are required to have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and must be insurable under Merrick’s insurance carrier.
  • Possess good interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interface with clients and agency staffs.
  • Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality.
Physical Requirements
  • Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
  • Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted
  • May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
