The Organization
The New Orleans Career Center (NOCC) prepares Orleans Parish public high school trainees and local adults for high-wage, high-demand careers with clear sightlines to future growth and prosperity. Our trainees explore, prepare for, and enter career pipelines – through technical training, industry-based certifications, and hands-on and work-based learning. We envision a world where every public school student in New Orleans graduates from high school are equipped to choose their own future and shape the future of New Orleans. New Orleans Career Center offers adults highly focused, industry-informed rapid reskill training to enter or re-enter the workforce.
The NOCC team partners across industry, education, government, community, and workforce development to design and deliver workforce preparation and training programs aligned to economic growth and access to opportunity in the Greater New Orleans area. Our current pathways are healthcare, emergency medical services, engineering and manufacturing, culinary arts and hospitality management. New Orleans Career Center will strategically grow programming and partnerships over the next five years to expand pathways and serve over 1000 New Orleanians annually. We anticipate relocating to our renovated, 140,000 sq/ft. state-of-the-art technical training facility in Spring 2023.
The Opportunity:
The New Orleans Career Center is adding a passionate, talented, and dedicated full time Clean Team Member . Clean team members are an integral member of the New Orleans Career Center Operations team. The clean team member is a hard-working professional who works daily in the building to ensure all trainees and staff members arrive to a clean building daily. This is a rare opportunity for the right individual to play a critical role in growing a unique nonprofit model and helping New Orleans become a city in which every high school student has access to exceptional career pathways opportunities.
Strong candidates are process-oriented and excel at plan development and execution. Creativity, resourcefulness, and follow-through are also highly valued.
Essential Functions
- Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, wax and polish floors, (Skilled trades shop, Medical training spaces, storage, access stairs, etc.) and at the career center.
- Operate carpet cleaner and other equipment using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
- Clean outside public access areas, sweep and remove debris from sidewalks and gutters, wash windows or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
- Receive and stock deliveries of cleaning items and other supplies.
- Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment.
- Empty and remove trash daily.
- Summer Work schedule including floor prep, waxing and refinishing.
- Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces
- Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers and restock disposables (e.g. soap, toilet tissue and paper towels)
- Wipe mirrors and windows
- Unlocks doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas.

- Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
- Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components

- High school diploma is preferred but not required
- Ability to understand verbal instructions.
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.

- Deliver routine, dynamic coaching, training, and feedback for instructional roles
This role reports directly to the Facility & Transportation Manager.
Physical and Environmental Demands
The physical essential functions of this job include (but are not limited to) the following: Frequently exerting 50 pounds of force to move objects; occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Compensation:
Competitive salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications. NOCC also offers a competitive benefits package that includes 80% employer-paid health insurance, long- and short-term disability insurance, 401K, 10 days of paid time off in excess of NOCC org-wide breaks, a flexible weekly schedule to tackle role responsibilities, and professional development resources and opportunities.
Salary range: $32,000 - $37,000
