The The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing is seeking a Clerk IV to perform personnel scheduling, staffing, and payroll tasks requiring the exercise of some independent judgement and the application of basic staffing and payroll policies, guidelines, and procedures.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures regarding payroll, including FCGL and FMLA, as well as other pay types (i.e. overtime, comp, holiday, worker’s comp, etc).
  • Escalates issues and questions as appropriate to Manager regarding real time staffing.
  • Maintains personnel records including vacation, overtime, holiday as well as all other pay/leave types, coordinates with leadership in approving and scheduling overtime, holiday, and other leave times.
  • Keeps Manager or designee informed of problems and changes related to staffing policies and scheduling patterns.
  • Works with nursing leadership to determine real time staffing plan for 3 adult inpatient nursing division
  • Updates/maintains real time inpatient unit staffing sheets
  • Completes real time staffing reports in timely manner

Percent of Time: 50% (20 hours/week)
Schedule: Saturday and Sunday 0400 - 1400, weekdays and holidays as needed, rotating on-call
Location: UIHC General Hospital
Rotations: Holiday rotations, rotating on call

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Any combination of progressively responsible related clerical office experience, related undergraduate education, and/or post high school clerical training that is the equivalent to four years of full-time employment

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the EPIC system
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ELMS
  • Experience with staff scheduling, staff assignments for clinics, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the AFSCME & SEIU Union Contracts
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, organized, and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics policies, procedures, and regulations
