Job Description:

The opportunity:

The position is responsible for providing overall IT direction and defining the IT projects to support the new business strategy and onboarding of DentaQuest clients. This will also include working closely with RFP team to drive technical requirements and feasibility while supporting the clients after they are onboarded to DentaQuest systems. The position is also responsible for all engineering practices and support the peripheral systems surrounding the claim adjudication platforms.

What you will bring with you:

  • Great understanding of healthcare domain and detailed understanding of client management and onboarding
  • Industry leading engineering, system administration and software development (programming) foundation with deep and broad knowledge of the full stack of technologies
  • Proven ability to apply, teach, and coach leading testing skills, tools/frameworks, techniques, processes, and principles to software solutions in support of defect management, automation, diagnosis, and reporting in a complex production environment.
  • Industry leading knowledge of performance testing coding best practices, and load and performance testing with ability to apply, teach and coach.
  • Working knowledge of architectural patterns to drive improvements and influence application performance, reliability, and scale across Sun Life (U.S. & global)
  • Proficiently utilize, influence, drive, and continuously improve multiple software development and deployment methodologies, processes, development best practices and DevOps/DevSecOps principles across Sun Life (U.S. & global)
  • Remain current with technology trends and lead change across Sun Life (U.S. & global)
  • Industry leading understanding of application security and security best practices with ability to apply, teach and coach.
  • Oversee code reviews and validate vulnerability fixes; ability to sign off on any features; spearhead a continuous learning environment, innovation, and creativity across U.S.IT and U.S business group.
  • Industry leading knowledge of functional specifications with ability to write, teach, and coach.
  • Recognized as an industry leader among peers, team, and in the industry.
  • Proficiently mentor, grow, and empower all engineers and engineering chapter across U.S. IT
  • Retain and attract top diverse engineering talent.
  • Coach and empower team(s) to define future leading/best-in-class technology roadmaps.
  • Technically minded problem solver

Education

  • University degree, preferably in a technical, computer-related or engineering course. Post-graduate degree in a computer field or MBA desirable

Experience

At least ten years cumulative experience in IT, at least 5 in a senior IT management position such as systems development director. Software Engineering background along with healthcare experience is preferable. Must have acted as project manager / architect / engineering managerand successfully implemented at least two large, cross-functional projects.

How you will contribute:

  • Will be responsible for managing engineering and analyst teams driving client onboarding, resolving client change requests, and managing data-exchange platforms.
  • Effectively coach, mentor, grow, and empower entry, mid, and senior level engineers, and engineering managers to deliver industry leading technology solutions that are high-quality, innovative, efficient, secure, creative, scalable, adaptable, dynamic, fully performing and comply with all standards and best practices in support of business and Client outcomes and objectives across DentaQuest and Sun Life (U.S. & global)
  • Execute full software and product development life cycle (SDLC) and lead continuous improvements across DentaQuest and Sun Life (U.S. & global)
  • Develop industry leading deliverables to deliver technical solution(s) seeking business and Client feedback across Sun Life (U.S. & global)
  • Integrate industry leading software components into a fully functional software system.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
  • Deploy industry leading programs and evaluate business and Client feedback.
  • Retain and attract top diverse engineering talent.
  • Coach and empower team(s) to define and explore future leading/best-in-class technology roadmaps across Sun Life (U.S. & global)
  • Own supplier and license management of tools/software across technology stack(s) while driving efficiencies across Sun Life (U.S. & global)
  • Strategic understanding of healthcare domain and the ability to organize the team to drive outcomes while continue to obtain efficiency.

If you are a New York resident, the salary range for this position is [$174,000-$261,000] annually.

We consider various factors in determining actual pay including your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition to salary, this position is eligible for incentive awards based on individual and business performance as well as a broad range of competitive benefits.
