A Client Virtual Controller of Pathway services is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting and managing on-going financial reporting operations of each outsourced accounting client and maintaining appropriate contact and communication with client management.

This position is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This includes financial reports and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the client’s reported financial results and ensure the reported results comply with the adopted financial reporting framework. The Senior supervises Data Coordinators with regard to performance on assigned clients.

This positon also serves as liaison between the client and the client’s tax preparer and other professional service providers whether or not such providers are PBMares staff and for assessing client risks and identifying and organizing consultative advisory services.


What you will do:

  • Supervise and contribute to the Discovery process for prospective clients; participate in meetings to establish fee structure; review proposals prior to sending to prospective clients
  • Approve implementation plans and supervise execution for assigned clients
  • Maintain accounting procedures applicable to each client
  • Prepare or approve standard workpapers and journal entry templates for PBM data coordinators for routine and month-end closing purposes
  • Maintain periodic contact, communication and relationships with assigned clients
  • Review reconciliations
  • Review account classifications
  • Review general ledger for any missing transactions and overall accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare or review management reporting packages (monthly)
  • Periodic agenda driven client meetings Prepare complex Performance Indicators (KPIs), Critical Success Factors and other management reports
  • Perform or supervise special projects as needed
  • Monitor and route (activate work orders and assign) compliance work (tax preparation, etc.) to firm departments and monitor due dates and completion.
  • Staff and technology resource planning/management by client
  • Responsible for maintaining processes and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient recording of transactions
  • Responsible for evaluating and establishing accounting policies for Pathway clients
  • Training and supervising Data Coordinators on specific client work
  • Manage/oversee year-end tasks to ensure timely close such as:
    • Review fiscal year for large, unusual, or incorrectly recorded transactions
    • Prepare, or review proposed, journal entries for year-end adjustments
    • Prepare year-end schedules needed for annual financial statement audit
    • Coordinate requested schedules and interact with external auditors on accounting matters
  • Other special, accounting-related projects requested by client, and approved by Pathway management
