Job Description:
Principle Responsibilities
- Greets and welcomes patient in person or by phone.
- Performs registration process.
- Schedules appointments.
- Collects demographic and insurance information.
- Checks in or interviews patient to complete appropriate paperwork.
- Directs patient to their appointment or procedure.
- Verifies eligibility and benefits information for payers and interprets results.
- Obtains prior authorization before date of service and provides notification if unable to complete.
- Collects co-pay or deductibles and respond to questions regarding financial assistance programs available. Refers complex questions as needed.
- Obtains signatures from patients as needed.
- Uses resources, tools and procedures to complete accounts in assigned work queues.
- May operate a multi-phone system which would including transferring calls, handling messages and paging.
- May order supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- High School or GED required and
- Associate's or Vocational degree preferred
- Less than 2 years of clerical or business environment experience required and
- Less than 2 years of computer knowledge including working with an electronic medical record, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required and
- Less than 2 years of medical terminology knowledge preferred
