Under the direction of a physician, the clinic Nurse is responsible for assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care management.

Job Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing

Personal Job Related Skills
1. Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
2. Ability to be self-directed and function independently.

Licensure, Registry or Certification:
1. Licensed as an LVN in the state of Texas
2. A current driver's license
3. Current in CPR

Prior Work Experience:
1. Preferably a minimum of one year of nursing experience in community health, physician’s office, or equivalent combination of training and experience. Will train a highly-motivated new graduate

Technical Training
1. Current in CPR
2. Maintain CEU hours as per licensure requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
a. Performs selected nursing and administrative duties, and assists physicians as part of the clinical care
team;
b. Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to appointment with
recent test results and correspondence and determines needed services per practice protocol;
c. Confers with physician regarding any incomplete patient tests/consults or other incomplete orders
prior to patient visit;
d. Prepares patients for examination and treatment by escorting them from the waiting area to the exam
room and taking histories and vital signs;
e. Prepares, cleans and maintains exam and treatment rooms;
f. Gives injections and draws blood; assists with EKGs, OB/GYN exams and office procedures as
needed; and provides other patient care services as directed by the physicians;
g. Maintains sample medication records, administers medication upon physician order and responds to
medication requests per practice protocol;
h. Prepares and maintains clinical supplies and equipment;
i. Triages and responds to patient communications within practice policy;
j. Assists with scheduling tests and treatments, pre-certifying patients for hospital care and/or
procedures, and processing referrals to other providers;
k. Coordinates care with disease management or case management programs as needed;
l. Contributes to the development of policies and procedures;
m. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations;
n. Creates, maintains, copies and files patient files, records and other information as needed;
o. Compiles and condenses technical and statistical data for reports and records;
p. Treats staff, physicians, visitors and patients with dignity and respect.
