Summary: The Clinical Application Specialist will be working with our Dental offices and is responsible for assisting in the implementation, maintenance, and support of our Dental Healthcare applications, such as billing (PMS) or Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
This position will review, analyze, and evaluate healthcare business systems and user needs. This position formulates solutions to coordinate with overall healthcare systems & delivery, business systems, and IT strategies.
You will have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within Healthcare and Information Technology. Writes detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to meet business needs with excellent customer centered service. Relies on experience, creativity, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Position carries out coordination, installation, testing, and technical tasks in support of the varied practice electronic healthcare platforms. The position requires participation in developing and implementing application procedures and support plans.
**This is a IN PERSON position, with hybrid potential after the first 90-120 day's based on performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide Tier I/II/III/other Wisdom/Dexis/Guru/EHR support per request from various constituencies as needed
- Provide Tier II/III Iris/X-Ray/PANO IT related application and device support per request from various constituencies as needed
- Create and maintain Wisdom/Dexis/Guru support documentation and materials such as procedures, cheat sheets, manuals, workflows, diagrams, etc.
- Supports PHC Staff members utilizing the Wisdom/Dexis/Guru product suites, including PMS, EMR, Billing, Meaningful Use, and reporting
- Proficient with dental software programs including but not limited to Wisdom Enterprise, Guru, Dexis, and Iris Intraoral camera
- Assist with Dental Vendor management as needed, including upgrades and service packs
- Prioritize numerous issues and projects with varying levels of priority or severity
- Manage the resolution of all issues & completion of projects within accepted service levels
- Monitor for requests nearing the limit of SLA timeframe
- Escalate requests as needed
- Participation in developing and implementing application procedures and support plans
- Carries out coordination, installation, testing, and technical tasks in support of the varied practice electronic healthcare platforms
- Limited Medical and Dental, and IT report development and data analysis as needed
- Facilitate support for medical device applications, installations, equipment in close consultation with vendor
- Monitor and answer the IT Helpdesk telephone line related to Application Support
- Provide remote & in-person technical assistance for general business applications
- Assist in daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups as needed
- Perform regular EHR/Wisdom security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
- Investigate and troubleshoot network or client access issues
- Repair and recover from client software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies
- Provide off-site and remote support as (Satellite Offices/School Clinics)
- Write a detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to meet business needs
- Formulate solutions to coordinate with overall healthcare systems & delivery, business systems, and IT strategies
- Maintenance:
- As assigned, perform regular system checks to ensure proper system functionality
- Assist in maintaining data center environmental and monitoring equipment
- Maintain PHC Support/Intranet/Web portal Dental Documents
- Maintain & create IT support documentations, cheat sheets & other materials
- Configure / add new services as necessary
General Duties:
- Assist with all other special tasks and manage projects as directed by management
- Assist in troubleshooting hardware, software and network problems. File bug reports and follow-up to resolve problems with vendors
- Collaborate with network engineers, architects and other team members on the implementation, testing, deployment and integration of server systems
- Coordinate with other teams or departments to resolve user problems
- Develop and participate in workflow documentation
- Document helpdesk tickets as needed
- Document, track, and monitor IT problems using applicable systems and tools
- Document procedures
- Evaluate and test stability of new products
- Follow-up and update customer status and information
- General Application Support as needed
- Staff training for commonly used Medical applications
- Pass on any feedback or suggestions by customers to the appropriate internal team
- Provide off-site and remote support as needed
- Responsible for answering IT requests via phone, email, live chat or instant messages
- Study the “best practices” of other organizations and make recommendations regarding changes that would benefit PHC
- Sensitivity to the needs and the situations of multi-cultural populations from a variety of income levels
- Use security best practices
- Work across a broad range of technologies and liaises across multiple areas of the business to support incidents, problems and requests.
- As needed, may be required to attend out-of-state training
- Review, analyze, and evaluate healthcare business systems and user needs
- Other Duties:
- Assists with other duties as directed
Education and Experience Required:
- Associate’s degree, 2 to 4 years related EHR work experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and expertise
- IT-related clinical experience or background preferred
- Experience within a Dental health care organization or non-profit organization preferred
- Extensive working knowledge of medical practice management systems and all related billing processes in an outpatient setting preferred
- Experience using healthcare applications such as billing (PMS) or Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and reporting Wisdom or other Dental Application experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Microsoft MCSA or MCSE certification preferred
- EHR Certification (EHR Tech/EHR DS) preferred
- ITIL Foundation Certification (ITIL -F) preferred
- Current, valid California Driver License
