Clinical Coordinator Job at Emerson Hospital

Reporting to the Program Director, coordinates the total nursing care plans for patients, participates inpatient and family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary departments and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical settings.

Job Functions

  • Works under the direction of the Program Director and Medical Director to oversee, manage, train, and assist nurses and other staff within the department.
  • Works with the Program Director to facilitate and maintain lines of communication with the various ancillary departments utilized by the department.
  • Works with the Program Director to implement education programs for physicians and the community regarding wound care.
  • Provides the Program Director with required reports of the departmental status as directed.
  • Provides the hospital Department Head with required evaluations, records and certifications of each hospital staff member within the department as required.
  • Maintains standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the hospital.
  • Assesses the patient's condition and nursing needs, sets goals, prescribes appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals and the physical, psychological, social and rehabilitative needs of the patient, including discharge planning.
  • Conducts departmental in-services for continuing education for the various staff of the department and hospital.
  • Directs and evaluates nursing care provided to patients in the Center.
  • Participates in economical utilization in supplies and ensures that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
  • Participates in team conferences in development of individualized nursing care plans as needed.
  • Participates in orientation of new personnel.
  • Helps coordinate nursing care of patient when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments.
  • Establishes and maintains communications and utilizes teaching opportunities with patients, and other significant individuals.
  • Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients such as cardiac arrest or other emergencies.
  • Participates in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment.
  • Participates in unit Quality Assurance and Improvement.
  • Participates in hospital committees as designated.
  • Attends mandatory hospital education.
  • Maintains and supports patient’s rights to care, privacy and respect.
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time.

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing required.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years acute care nursing experience required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of management experience in a wound treatment center perferred.


Licensure and/or Certification

  • Current license as a professional nurse in Massachusetts required.
  • Current BLS healthcare provider certification required.
  • Certification as WOCN, CWCN or CWS strongly preferred.
  • ACLS preferred.

Skills

  • Advanced nursing skills in wound care treatment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others.
  • Computer proficiency (including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook).
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with responsibilities on various campuses.
  • Strong administrative, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in strategic planning and service development.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information required.
