The expected ENTRY pay range for this position, based on experience and equity within the Judicial Branch is $22.50 - $24.70.
This position is non-exempt under the FLSA.

   About the Position
 
 
   The Clinical Liaison in the Criminal Department works to ensure defendants are adhering to court orders regarding medication and treatment after they have gone through the restoration process. The Clinical Liaison is appointed by the court according to A.R.S. § 13-4513 when a defendant is found to be CIMD (Competency is Medication Dependent) to coordinate the continuity of care, following restoration. The Clinical Liaison shall act as a liaison between the Court and any treating facilities or correctional facilities and shall advise the court on matters relating to the appropriateness of the form and location of treatment.

   POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

   Education:
 
 - Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Work, Human Relations, Public Administration, or related field
   Experience:
 
 - Two (2) years of casework or investigation experience in a legal, financial, law enforcement, or social services setting conducting site visits, reporting observations and recommendations to the court, interviewing family members and/or nursing staff and working independently
   OR
 
 
 
   Combined education and experience qualifications:
 
 - An equivalent combination of education and related experience beyond the minimum requirements may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis
   Our Preferred Candidate has:
 
 - Masters degree
- Experience dealing with seriously mentally ill patients and experience managing a caseload
   Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
 
 
   Knowledge of:
 
 
 - Court policies and procedures, pertaining to the laws governing guardianship and conservatorship
- Strong investigative, observational and research methods
   Skill in:
 
 - Effective verbal and written communication
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; social perceptiveness
   Ability to:
 
 - Display excellent problem solving and decision-making
- Effectively prepare and present information in a clear and concise manner
- Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options in order to make informed decisions
- Demonstrate strong active listening skills
- Work well under pressure and adjust to a diverse work force and clientele
   ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS

 - Performs intake assessments inside the jail or at other locations to evaluate defendants’ awareness and understanding of compliance and treatment as ordered by the court
- Reviews doctor's reports, confers with caregivers, family members, Correctional Health Services staff and mental health providers to ensure continuity of care and treatment compliance
- Manages a caseload of in-custody and out-of-custody defendants to monitor medication compliance
- Assesses defendants’ mental health and well being
- Locates and interviews petitioners, alleged incapacitated persons and others such as neighbors and friends of the parties involved
- Evaluates the necessity for guardianship and/or conservatorship and submits the evaluation to the Court
- Responds to questions regarding guardianship, conservatorship, court, and investigation procedures
- Appears as a witness in Court and be subject to cross-examination
- Documents and communicates defendants’ progress
- Extensive travel throughout the County

   The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Employee must use personal vehicle as extensive travel will be required.
 
 
 
   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak clearly and hear; see details of objects that are less than a few feet away; sit for long periods of time; stand, walk, use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally push, pull or lift up to 20 pounds.
