ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Clinical Medical Records Coordinator is responsible for managing incoming patient medical records from external sources and healthcare facilities. The Clinical Medical Records Coordinator will ensure the clinical information received is appropriately documented and coded to ensure the patient’s medical record is complete and accurate. This position will serve as a staff development resource for clinical staff and mentor to other medical records staff.

FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Manages the receipt of electronic clinical information received from external platforms (RRMC, DHMC, UVM/Porter, GFH…etc..).
  • Ensures that clinical data received is appropriately coded or documented as discreet data in the patient’s Electronic Health Record (EMR).
  • Obtains external medical records as requested by providers and clinical staff.
  • Manually enters faxed lab results done in the last year according to protocols.
  • Enters Immunizations for all new incoming patients.
  • Works with Administrative Clerical Manager to ensure that clinical and operational workflows support accurate, compliant, and complete documentation of clinical medical record data.
  • Is a member of the Medent SuperUser Group and assists in staff training.

SKILLS REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS:

  • Associates Degree in clinical related field or equivalent.
  • Clinical degree or certification required.
  • Four years in health care with similar duties.
  • Strong EMR Skills and medical office experience.
