Position Summary

The Clinical Psychologist, under general supervision by the Vice President of Clinical Services, conducts psychological evaluations to children and adults seeking care coordination services under the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). The Clinical Psychologist plays a key role in the admissions process, ensuring that new enrollees have required testing and documentation in place in compliance with regulations.

ACA/NY is dedicated to meeting the needs of people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities by providing comprehensive care management and coordination of service. ACA/NY supports 25,000+ people in its program with support services spanning New York City, Long Island, and the Lower Hudson Valley.

Duties & Responsibilities*

Conduct psychological evaluations as required by OPWDD to demonstrate if a person meets criteria for having an intellectual or developmental disability. This may include developmental history interview, intelligence testing, and adaptive skills assessment. Some referrals require an evaluation for autism spectrum disorder diagnosis.

  • Provide feedback to individuals and families regarding evaluation results.
  • Develop recommendations for services and supports using a person-centered approach that will promote the person’s identified goals for a healthy and meaningful life.
  • Complete comprehensive written reports that will be used to justify services to OPWDD and provide recommendations to the service delivery team.
  • May participate in the Incident Review Committee, working with Quality Assurance to ensure appropriate plans are in place for high-risk individuals.
  • May participate in clinical case reviews for individuals with complex behavioral health needs and risk factors.
  • May be required to participate in training and professional development activities as they pertain to the duties of the position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or School Psychology, including pre-doctoral Psychology internship

  • Two years’ post-graduate experience, including one year experience conducting psychoeducational testing, developmental evaluation, and/or comprehensive autism diagnostic assessment.
  • Absolute sense of integrity and personal commitment to serving people with I/DD and their families.

Work Environment*

This is a remote position with a blend of work from home, field work, and regional travel as well as in office expectations. Approximately 75% of work time will be remote, with the remainder being in-office. Whether working from an ACA/NY office, one’s home, or another remote location, each employee is required to follow minimum privacy standards when working in the flexible work environment: This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinet, etc. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel to off-site locations is required; therefore, the incumbent must be comfortable driving or using various forms of public transportation to reach destinations.
