JOB TITLE: Clinical Supervisor School Based Mental Health Services

JOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Senior Director of Integrated Community Services and in partnership with the Director of Education, the Clinical Supervisor supervises & provides both individual and group supervision to the School Social Workers and other Social Workers across Villa of Hope programming as needed; and monitors compliance & quality of all aspects of Social Worker responsibilities. Additionally, the Clinical Supervisor may carry a small caseload and fulfills the following direct care responsibilities: coordinates the individualized multi-disciplinary treatment for students on his/her caseload; provides and documents in a contemporaneous fashion the related services of individual counseling, small group counseling, and parent education & training as prescribed by each student’s IEP; fulfills the role of liaison between Villa of Hope School and district CSEs regarding socio-emotional needs of assigned students & families; and assists and supports students & families with obtaining and maintaining linkages with ancillary services and providers in the community. Participates in program system for responding to crisis and/or mental health emergencies at Villa of Hope School and/or in partnership with other Villa of Hope programs. Carries out all job responsibilities with fidelity and accountability to the Agency’s Mission, Vision, Values, Guiding Principles and Strategic Plan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Education: Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution, NYS current/active LCSW required.
Experience: 3+ years of related experience working with adolescents with behavioral health challenges (pre-MSW experience will be considered). 1+ years of supervisory/managerial leadership experience.
Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with youth, families, staff, and stakeholders. Exemplary written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional organizational skills and ability to balance competing demands on time and resources. Ability to form, lead, and participate effectively on teams. Creative problem-solving. Commitment to quality improvement. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Self-motivated, strong verbal and written skills, attention to detail, problem-solving, flexible and adaptable. Valid NYS driver’s license. Must have flexibility, patience, and resiliency to deal with sudden crisis and deviation from work plans and schedules.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborates and coordinates case planning with school district Committees on Special Education (CSE) and/or other local government agencies (ex: probation, DSS, Family Court).
- Acts as an advocate and a liaison for the student and the family as they interface with their school district and/or other community resources and services.
- Completes initial and ongoing assessments of each youth and family’s strengths, needs and progress utilizing information from the youth and family as well as collateral contacts and interdisciplinary treatment team members.
- Completes referrals for youth and/or families to receive specialized clinical treatment services (e.g. chemical dependency, sexual abuse) beyond the scope of practice of school counseling as needed and maintain collateral contact as appropriate.
- Leads the treatment team process for assigned caseload.
- Provides individual counseling, small group counseling and parent education & training as prescribed by each student’s IEP for assigned caseload.
- Completes discharge summary document upon discharge of each youth from the program.
- Maintains current knowledge in special education and clinical fields.
- Assists in the preparation of IEPs, report cards, treatment team reports and other written records contemporaneously.
- Uses relevant technology to support student’s treatment.
- Attends staff meetings and in-service training as required and/or requested.
- Demonstrates, promotes and practices cultural sensitivity towards students and staff through respect and understanding achieved through training and Agency cultural activities.
- Supports, supervises and provides clinical leadership to Social Workers with their coordinating with each student’s special education team for treatment meetings, individual and group supervision.
- Completes and maintains responsibility for progress/service delivery notes and all other required documentation and record keeping in a contemporaneous timeframe consistent with Agency and Corporate Compliance standards, including external reporting specific to program licensing agency (e.g. NYSED).
- Works with the classroom teacher and teacher assistant in evaluating and recommending educational and vocational programs for students.
- Exercises full compliance with the Agency’s Code of Conduct, all Agency policies and procedures and Federal and State laws and regulations.
- Provides crisis prevention and intervention for youth and families, including participating in clinical on-call responsibilities.
- Fulfills all legal requirements as a Mandated Reporter under NYS law and professional ethical standards.
- Provides support and supervision to Social Workers located in other Villa of Hope programming as needed.
