The Multnomah Athletic Club is nearing the completion of a Campus Master Plan (CMP) which will serve as a roadmap for capital projects spanning the next twenty years. The club is recruiting a full-time communications manager to join the Campus Master Plan team providing communications deliverables and engagement support as the work transitions from planning to implementation.

The CMP Communications and Engagement Manager will work collaboratively with the club’s Communications and Marketing Team and report directly to the CMP Program Director. The role of this position is to ensure members, staff, and key stakeholders are informed and engaged in the process of reshaping the club’s future. This position will primarily be on-site and may require some evening or weekend work.

The successful candidate must be a creative and experienced self-starter with a strategic approach to stakeholder communications and engagement. This role is responsible for creating a wide variety of deliverables. Candidates must be able to produce materials like magazine articles, web content, social media posts, event signage, surveys, and presentations. Candidates must be successful working in a fast-paced, agile environment and able to effectively convey technical concepts, plans, and relevant project benefits and impacts to various stakeholders. Candidates will need to be flexible and responsive to last-minute requests, shifts in timelines as well as managing strategic, long-term plans.

Key Responsibilities
The CMP Communications & Engagement Manager’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
  • Collaborate with the Communications Team and other operational teams to integrate CMP-related content and activities into the club’s day-to-day activities.
  • Attend ad hoc committee, project team, and communications team meetings as required and assist with developing and implementing the CMP Communications and Engagement plan.
  • Develop communications plans, engagement, and involvement activities (online and face to face), including strategy, goals, budget, and tactics.
  • Conceptualize, research, write, edit and produce content highlighting the milestones, benefits, and operational impacts of MAC’s campus master plan, promoting opportunities for member input along the way.
  • Light design work to create infographics and incorporate graphs, charts, or images into deliverables using Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, or other design platforms.
  • Draft messages on behalf of the project and club leadership as needed
  • Manage the content review and approval process using Teams and Asana.
  • Edit and proofread content, ensuring alignment with MAC branding and editorial style guidelines
  • Project manage and coordinate video and design projects that support the CMP Communications & Engagement Plan, adhering to designated budgets and timelines.
  • Develop reports and compelling presentations for stakeholder groups and adapt for web content, social media, event signage, etc., when appropriate.
  • Draft and deploy surveys and analyze data gathered to understand member insights about specific projects and their proposed outcomes.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related discipline, and at least three years of strategic communications and stakeholder engagement experience
2. Experience working on campus master planning, or other long-term, vision-setting planning and the ability to translate complex concepts to appeal to a variety of audiences and stakeholders
3. Exceptional writing and copyediting skills
4. Ability to design basic infographics, charts, and other graphic elements to enhance messages and presentations
5. Experience producing content for web, social media, and digital media
6. Ability to turn complex and sometimes technical information into engaging content in both written and graphic forms
7. Ability to work under pressure and meet short deadlines as well as long-term project milestones
8. Must be flexible, organized, and able to work well under deadline pressure
9. Must possess strong attention to detail and be able to produce high-quality, error-free deliverables
10. Ability to project manage larger projects outlined in the Communications and Engagement Plan, such as design or video projects
11. Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently, exercising sound judgment with minimal supervision while effectively collaborating with peers and supervisors
12. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Teams, InDesign or Adobe Creative Suite, Smartsheet, and a working knowledge of project platforms such as Asana or Basecamp
