Position Summary

Performs set up, operation and maintenance of laser equipment to cost effectively produce high quality steel, stainless steel or aluminum parts efficiently with ensuring conformance to customer drawing and engineering specifications.

Position Requirements

• Minimum four years experience in metal fabrication industry or similar environment with two years experience operating CNC equipment preferred.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities

• Perform all job functions considering your safety and the safety of fellow employees as the highest priority
• Ensure adherence to all Laserfab Inc. company policies and procedures
• Lead by example of demonstrating a strong work ethic and support of company policies, procedures and directives
• Continually produce high quality products which meet or exceed customer drawing specifications and engineering standards while minimizing scrap and rework costs
• Perform visual, dimensional and first part inspection of production components to ensure all meet customer drawing specifications and engineering standards before shipment
• Perform in process quality checks to ensure parts being produced continue to meet customer drawing specifications and engineering standards
• Continually monitor and provide input on operational methods, processes and procedures to meet departmental goals relating to efficiencies, equipment utilization and time usage in order to maintain or improve cost competitiveness
• Keeping on task and focused on effective production processes and methods
• Demonstrate ownership and responsibility for job assignments
• Maintain documentation in an orderly manner
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that interfaces well with co-workers and management team members
• Follow and continually monitor established safety policies, procedures and safe work practices to ensure a clean and safe work environment is promoted and maintained
• Provide quality in all goods and services delivered to internal and external customers through an approach of thorough planning, responsible implementation and continuous improvement

Job Requirements

• Understanding and support of Laserfab, Inc. company policies and procedures
• Must be able to read, comprehend and perform to ISO procedures, processes and work instructions
• Ability to use all types of inspection equipment and measuring devices
• Ability to perform first part and in process inspection of parts and materials to ensure quality of workmanship
• Ability to read and interpret job travelers, customer drawing specifications and engineering standards
• Ability to organize and prioritize work
• Must be able to focus on attention to detail while performing multiple tasks
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Must have excellent problem solving skills
• Ability to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
• Ability to train and assist with troubleshooting equipment issues and process variations
• Ability to work as a positive team member
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to convey opportunities for process improvements
• Expected to work overtime and flexible hours as needed to meet production and departmental goals
• Ability to learn new skills and assume other responsibilities as needed

Working Conditions

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively
• Ability to stand for 8 to 10 hours each day
• Typically in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature changes, moving machinery, moderate noise, dust and fumes
• Employee must comply with all safety policies, procedures and safe work practices.
• Wear appropriate PPE, including steel toed work boots or shoes, safety glasses, goggles, gloves and other protective equipment established in the company and governmental safety policies, procedures and safe work practices

The salary range is $22 to $35 an hour.
