Compensation for this position will depend on qualification and usually starts at or below mid-point. This position is located at the Utah State Prison Men’s Facility in Salt lake City. Supports the College Mission and serves inmate students, employers, and the College community by providing quality CNC Machining job skills training in a safe, clean environment. Maintains a positive and productive learning environment by working collaboratively with students, staff, faculty. Success of an instructor includes the ability to: collaborate, simplify, communicate, advocate, celebrate success, build trust, empower others, and improve the College community and its programs. This position is 35 hours a week. The hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 3 PM.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
1. Provides instruction, monitors progress and advises students.2. Responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, and cleanliness of the Machinist Technician area, including cleanup and organization of the shop area and tool room.3. Instructs, demonstrates and promotes job readiness.4. Provides leadership in developing, implementing, and incorporating Advisory Committee input on curriculum.5. Oversees department budget.6. Nurtures external partnerships and builds industry relationships.7. Fosters a productive learning and training environment.8. Encourages and exemplifies professionalism and good work habits and leadership.9. Maintains and implements a classroom management plan consistent with College. 10. Interacts with students in an atmosphere of professional communication, while maintaining required student boundaries.11. Builds and maintains a program that is supported by students and industry.12. Works cooperatively as a leader within the College community. Serves on committees and participates in off- campus events.13. Actively participates as a team member and acts as Team Leader as assigned.14. Develops partnerships and creates relationships with new companies.15. Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience• Must be a high school graduate.• Requires a minimum of four (4) years related work experience in Machining.• Post-secondary training preferred.• Prior teaching expereince and teaching credentials preferred.• Must hold related industry certifications needed to meet the instructional requirements of the program.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities• Must have demonstrated critical thinking skills.• Must have proven ability to lead, including the ability to act as an advocate for the College in all partnerships.• Must have open, positive communication skills with ability to foster a productive learning environment.• Position requires ability to work a varied schedule as established by the UDC.• Must meet requirements of College accrediting body, and may be required to meet Utah State Office of Education (USOE) licensure requirements.• Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
