This is a swing shift position Monday - Friday 2:30pm - 11pm

$20-$26/hour Depending on Experience! Plus Shift Differential!

Responsibilities:

• Setup and perform machining operations on various metals, castings, forgings, and fabrications.
• Able to operate one or more major machines and one or more minor machines. Sets up all fixturing and cutters to perform machining operations on all kinds of metals, casting, forgings and fabrications by performing the following duties.
• Works from "work at machine" schedule on computer system or from verbal instructions from production control. Uses computer system to clock in and out of daily work.
• Follows router on shop order or Non-Conformity Ticket
• Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Uses measuring tools to control machining operations such as dial indicators, micrometers, scales, tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools.
• Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
• Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
• Does basic maintenance to machines, including checking and maintaining oils and fluids in machines. Reports problems with machine to
• Grind and sharpen tooling as needed.
• Makes setup sheets for new jobs and updates old setup sheets.
• Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining problems
• Keeps machines and work area clean and free of debris. Mops work area at end of shift.
• Able to operate forklift and other lifting devices
• Needs required tools for job (See tool requirements for Cornell Pump Machinist).
• Follow all safety precautions and practices safe working habits. Reports all unsafe conditions and injuries to supervisor immediately

Experience

Preferred

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or vocational school required and one year prior machining related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
