Job/Position Summary
This is a skilled machinist position for an experienced individual. Please be sure you meet the criteria before applying.
PMP is seeking to add CNC Machinists to its first and/or second shift team. Generally, the CNC Machinist sets up and operates computer numerically controlled (CNC) horizontal/vertical lathe/mill machine(s) to perform machining operations (turning, boring, facing, threading), using castings, billet, and/or bar stock and a variety of tools and equipment to create a finished piece. Reads process sheets/work instructions and blueprints to determine machining to be performed. Performs machining operations in accordance with required specifications while maintaining quality and safety standards. Ensures proper dimensions and tolerance levels of product by monitoring for malfunctions and out-of-tolerance machining and adjusting programs as necessary to achieve desired results.
Position Specific Essential Functions:
- Operates machinery and equipment as directed; may operate lathes, mills, or both.
- Under limited supervision, works from programming instructions, operational data, and machine setup instructions defining and coding tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations, and console settings for operations such as bore, mill, drill, face, thread, and occasional profiling and contouring.
- Programs CNC machine tools in the course of making parts.
- May be required to operate more than one machine simultaneously.
- Completes customer product requirements as associated with work orders.
- Determines appropriate tooling/gages for part production/inspection.
- Checks parts for conformance to specifications; performs in‑process inspections as required to ensure 100% quality product.
- Identifies discrepancies in estimated set up and run times and resolves with Manager.
- Responsible for document and data control of programs, tool lists, and other related data with respect to job packets/travelers.
- Responsible for cleaning and performing general maintenance on equipment as scheduled or required.
- Initiates nonconforming product procedures when necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- At least three (3) years of aerospace or tight-tolerance CNC machining experience or a combination of education and related aerospace or tight-tolerance experience resulting in full knowledge of the practices, procedures, capabilities, and requirements of the position and machinery, but not less than three (3) years.
- Requires “intermediate” knowledge of machining techniques and methods and computer numerically controlled machine tool operating procedures.
- For Mill: Ability to set up and operate numerically controlled machine tools to perform a series of mid to high-level machining operations on work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring intermediate to high skill.
- For Lathe: Ability to program, set up, and operate numerically controlled machine tools to perform a series of turning operations on work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring intermediate to high skill.
- Possesses intermediate shop math skills (addition, subtraction, trigonometry).
- Familiarity with working properties of most materials.
- Ability to understand and follow written instructions and read blueprint specifications.
- Average to above average computer skills.
- Strong understanding of gage calibration.
- Intermediate understanding of Quality Systems.
- Ability to proficiently and adeptly perform part inspection using inspection equipment.

Education & Employment Eligibility/Verification
- High school graduate or equivalent.

Position Schedule & Particulars
- Full-Time / 1st Shift
- Monday through Friday | 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- 40 hours per week required minimum. Over-time available.
- Full-Time / 2nd Shift
- Monday through Thursday | 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
- 40 hours per week required minimum. Over-time available.
Standard Pay Range
- Standard pay range starts at $22.00 per hour. Compensation at hire is based on job knowledge, experience, and skills. Competitive wages paid!!!
- Compensation for 2nd shift Employees includes a 5% shift premium (over and above hourly rate).
- Future compensation increases are based on job knowledge, performance, competence, and skill, including soft skills.
