Job Summary:
Truck Driver Straight/Box (Non CDL) purchase metal at construction/demolition, manufacturing and contractor sites throughout Southern Maryland, DC, Northern Virginia area and process on-site purchasing transactions.

Position Responsibilities:
- Receive and follow directions from our dispatcher, adhere to assigned routes, follow time schedules, use route navigation apps, and experience with Electronic Logs, helpful.
- Safety is our number one requirement!
- Provide excellent customer service, answer questions, and professionally handle complaints any concerns from customers.
- Calculate, record and distribute payment to customer.
- Assist with loading and unloading scrap metal without interfering with operations at customer’s place of business.
- Abide by all highway and DOT transportation laws.
- Maintain a safe driving record.
- Complete daily maintenance checks on truck and notify manager of any issues.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to manage, track and account for money transactions and reconcile balances
- Ability to utilize a tablet and/or mobile device for purposes of navigation/ route optimization, tracking and customer interface/ signature capture
- Exceptional customer and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively, professionally, with tact and diplomacy
- Ability to take and follow directions and work well with others as part of team
- Flexible schedule to work overtime as needed preferred
- Knowledge of identifying potential safety risks ahead of time.
- Awareness of laws, DOT regulations, OSHA regulations, EPA regulations.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:
- Current, valid driver’s license
- A maximum of one or less major moving violations and/or at-fault incidents within a rolling 36-month period
- Must be able to meet company insurance requirements- (drivers must be 21 years old or over)
- “NO” DUI or other drug-related driving violation and/ or any driving-related offenses in the last seven years (e.g. hit-and-run, felonies involving a vehicle) on your driving record
- Ability to lift, move, push and pull up to 50 pounds, prolonged sitting
- Must hold current DOT Card. If DOT Card is expired must be able to pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
